Alcohol in Slip Solution

Recommended Posts

alcohol in a small amount will not really hurt the film, but it also will NOT help keep from freezing. Howard, EWF, posted a few years ago what a ratio would have to be if you were to actually prevent freezing.

I used it in the past, but have not for the last several years. Just hit it hard.

:thumb This guy is right, doesn't do anything unless you used a lot.

I know first hand it does make what little water is left between the film and glass dry out faster. I was asking what negative effects it might have.

It won't hurt the film, there is usually worse stuff in most soaps that I would be more concerned about. :twocents

I've tinted in 4k-9,000ft in the winter... tried everything including alcohol and I did not see a noticeable difference. There is not a big enough ratio to do it -imo. A good squeegee and good technique will make the difference. Just my :twocents

Not disagreeing, but what would adding alcohol hurt? :dunno

If so please let me know, as I do tend to use a small amount in the winter.

You don't need to add alcohol if you have arms like mine.

I know that I am not going to be adding any into my mix now that I am using the tint slime. That stuff seems to dry out quicker then shampoo does all by itself.

I just wanted to know if any of the work I had done in the past could fail prematurely due to using some alcohol. That's all :thumb

If you guys saw how much azz I put into installing film. You would most likely think I am lucky not to break a window.
