If taking the window out isn't an option, I'd trim the urethane so that I can hide the edge.

The urethane is usually really sticky, so I'll keep it wet with very soapy water as I trim it out. It is a messy, pain in the butt.

TD is right , that stuff can smear all over your tools and hands , nasty stuff. I only do them if my glass guy next door is paid to pop out the window , and clean up the old urethane , then reinstall . It's the best and cleanest way to do them . And alternative method is to cut it short all around to avoid the stuff altogether , then apply a black border pinstripe around the perimeter on the outside to hide the edge.

It's an option . You get what you pay for :thumb
