just pull it down and I will pop off...

Just pull what down? Another forum said there is a locking tab inside the bottom (left in the picture) that must be depressed to remove it. I also read the you just twist it sideways and it comes off. Before I break a windshield. I need the correct solution from somebody that has removed one. Not just speculation.

The soulition is wiggle the mirror side to side and pull up and it slides off.

Well you can do that if you want to break off the mount but on my 2004 Taurus you have to pull UP.

I replaced it with a Gentex today.

all you have to do is push the mirror down as far as it will go..and from the top...grab the neck of the mirror..close to the base..what is shown above..and gentle pull down on the whole mirror..and I will come off just fine..

heres a little update:

you can't pull down, I get to put in a new glass because I tried earlier posts, and they are for the older style spring clips and do not work with the new style.

for anyone who wants to know there is a new kind of spring clip.

here is how to get it off, and Ill post some pics when I get it back from the glass shop.

1 pry one top pointy side of the box out and it will unclip from the mirror.

2 bend the mirror down as far as you can without breaking it

3 use a flat head with a slight bend at the end to slide in the big hole on the top of the mirror mount.

4 pry untill you can get the flat head on top of the spring clip.

5 push up on the base of the mirror and it will slide up.

use alot of caution, it breaks easy.
