  1. Rebel Tint Inc. is looking to hire an experienced automotive installer who can work unsupervised, and supervise others as well, when needed. Cullman, AL is a small town, but growing very fast, as it’s located 45 min from Huntsville and Birmingham, AL.  This is a great opportunity for someone looking to settle in and create a long term relationship and career. If you’re jumping from shop to shop or just looking for short term employment, please do not apply. I’m the owner, I’ve been an installer for 23 years and I know what it’s like working on commission and flat rate. I TAKE GOOD CARE OF MY INSTALLERS. Possible percentage partnership available down the road for the right person. Some benefits like Aflac and vacation time after 30-90 days.

Call (256) 709-7797 to schedule an interview. You will be expected to show what level your skills are at the interview.

  2. My name is John Hatfield. I own Rebel Tint Inc. based out of Tupelo, MS. (Pro Tint of Tupelo & Pro Tint of Cullman) and I’m looking for an installer that can both install and handle basic tasks like interacting with Dealership managers and salesmen, answering the phone, making invoices, without supervision. The position is in Cullman, AL. Pay would be salary plus commission. If you are or know anyone interested, please call me at (662) 871-0847.

  3. And the dips in the hood are a lot deeper than what it looks like in the pic. I’m thinking start in the middle, get the rest of the wrap done, then steam the inserts, but then I have to worry about water running back under the front. Or, I could tack the middle down, work to the sides, dealing with each insert one at a time, then working the whole front afterwards??

all help appreciated. What’s bad is 2-3 years ago I did PPF all day every day. Now I just do it once in a while and you know how that goes.

  4. I took in a full PPF wrap on a $100k Silverado thinking my current software had the patterns, come to find out, they don’t 😡. So I’m having to bulk install the whole thing. I’ve gotten it all done, but saving the worst for last: the hood. It’s got more curves than Selma Hayek 😳.  Any ideas. I’ve got a steamer. I’m running close on film, so I’ve got one shot at it.

This is the hood. Except it’s black 😩

When he scheduled it, I was so stoked to do a Callaway Silverado, I forgot to ask what color it was 😞🔫

  5. I used the new orange fusion squeegee for the first time on a full vehicle install and got hella bubbles on my first panel. Went back to my green and no bubbles. Now I’ve just gotta figure out how to get these fu*^ers out 😕😩. I mean I went over the panel 3 times, pushed hard. Came back later and there were like 5 small bubbles. It’s a full pickup job. Only issue with the greens is I went through a batch that would scratch the film brand new. That’s why I tried the fusion orange with handle. Idk not saying they’re bad, but it left me in a bad situation.

  6. We are a retail shop, but just through years of quality work and reputation, we Tint all the cars for Hyundai-Mazda, Mitsubishi, Kia and now Dodge, which will soon lead to Toyota and Nissan. There’s a full time prep person, so the cars will be broke down, clean, ready for film installed. We have a system and it works and good installers make $800-$1100/ week. Busy, but laid back. Everyone has a job and knows what they’re supposed to do. Let me know if you’re interested. This is year round work.

This video may help. It is the application of Dow 995. There is no tooling. The specification requires a 45 degree angle across the top of the bead. The problem with tape and tool is you leave a concave surface.

This job required 1/2" bead. ( 1/4" on glass...1/4" on frame)

I didn’t see the video. Can you send it to me? I’ve got to install some next week

  8. Wow. I was looking on these post and mine was so many years ago, but still up top? Do many people not still post on here? Anyway, here’s a snapshot: of the past 6 years: said dealership begged me to come start a shop just for them, I gave in, due to the shop I was at made the glass installer the “window tinter” which failed. My venture with said dealership did very well for 5 years until the manager that started the shop got caught with dirty hands and go de-promoted. New manager eventually shut down everything old manager started. It was a good run for 5+ years. All good things must end when it comes to dealerships 😕

Current day, I’m in with a larger dealership, but not in bed with. Retail shops with a bay is very hard to find in this area. I finally found one, but I need help from you guys. My shop I had for several years. We did Mobile video, leather seats, window tint and Line-X bed liners. So I’ve got a partner that is willing to invest in getting my shop back; emphasizing in car audio (I’ve got a lot of custom audio experience) .  It seems great, but it’s like this: I’ve got years of experience, at least 100 calls a week from customers, a great reputation. I don’t have working capital or the money to build a great shop. It would be a slow, as I can do it kind of thing on my own. My “partner” is willing to invest, but has zero business experience, no skills that would really help, which is fine, but what is my current assets worth? Without me, it would take months if not years to acquire the following I have. He has zero business experience and I’m getting calls all day along with FB and google ads. I really want to be a Fosgate dealer, along with Alpine and other big names. I feel like if I’m going to share my business I want to do it right. How much should I expect him to invest to be a 50/50 partner? $25k ? $50k?   What do you think?  Has anyone been down this road?  Thanks guys

  9. Well, Carolina, it's hard to say how many customers come in just from referals, but I do get a lot of business from walk-ins to purchase other things. Everything goes through their register, then the owner cuts my check every 7 days, minus what I owe them. Here's the kicker: since I posted this, most of the dealership accounts I had have either quit tinting all together, or one has moved their business to a new shop in town that may or may not be funded by the dealership's GM. The shop I work in was originally a whosale distributor to dealerships and other small shops in the state, selling glass and accessories and just in the past 8 years opened the retail store which I work in, so they usually are owed large amounts of money by the dealerships (two of which are in financial trouble). So when they got so far behind, the owner has tightened up their terms and has even, occasionally, put them on C.O.D., which I have no argument with, but it has cost me a lot of income. The relationship with this large company and the dealerships in town is rapidly deteriorating and I've been caught in the middle. If there was another shop, with this good of a location, I would have moved already.

  10. Update........I tinted an 09' LI today, what a pain!! I tint a lot of these cars, but there are differences! If it is an LI, instead of an I, the front doors will have the pin as I described earlier. The 09' LI I did today had the pins in the front and rear doors and it didn't have the sun screens, so that may be the thing that makes the difference :dunno , but it definately takes longer.

  11. As an update: my future partner and I have not been able to find a building available that had a bay door, or would be willing to install a bay door, until just this week. A realtor finally got back with us, after I had written them off. They said that they would allow us to install a bay door at our expense. So, things are starting to move forward again, but now I'm getting a little nervous. I'm making a good living where I'm at now, I'm just limited at what I can do and am under the company's owners' thumb; any time he can come in and either raise the commission he gets or tell me to get out. I like tinting where I'm at (except the shop is too hot b/c the owner won't replace the A/C), I just hate the uncertanty.I just don't want to make a bad mistake because of greed.

  12. In 17 years, I did the first one, that I can remember, yesterday. These are a PIA!! Like previously stated: on the doors, cut right on the last dot. I had more trouble with the stupid rubber deal along the bottom of the back glass, mainly because it came over the glass, so I cut it out as best as possible. Definitely plan on an extra 30 minutes

  13. Thank you, everyone, for all your good advice. We met with the owner and agreed to give him the increased percentage, but asked only that he sign an agreement to not go up for another three years and to include me in his existing advertising, like was promised the past two price increases. He would not put anything in writing, but has changed his advertising. Basically, I went up on my prices and am in negotiations to move to a new location in a few months. It really sucks though. I like where I'm at and the other people I work around. Greed sucks!

  14. I've been tinting at an accessory shop, renting space there for X % commission. Last year he asked for 5% more, now less then a year later, he's demanding another 5%! Well, that's a whole other story; what I'm needing help with is to decide whether to go up on tint prices to make up the difference, or to go down a little, hoping to make up the difference in volume, but also retuning the shop owner's per car profit, back to what it was. Opinions?

  15. I just did an 12' 750 I today...Wheew! The back doors are as stated, pull out the chrome seals, easy, the back glass is the same, the only computer I found was in the driver's side trunk, behind the carpeted panel, I just put towels over it. The front doors are the b1tch. They'll be easy for everyone else though :) remove the tweeter, pop the long handle back as far as it will go. Look for a pin behind the door handle and push it down until it comes out... then pandora's box opens! The trim panel comes off easily where you can remove the T25 ish torx screws and then the panel literally falls off, where you can easily remove the screws. I'll say you're welcome in advance!!!

  16. I am sure this has been noted before, and I definately don't try to claim this as an "original" idea, but it definately works:

Buy a white sheet from your local Wally World or what have you, lay it down in the back deck and use a Diamond tip or whale tail to shove the sheet onto the extreme edges of the back deck to absolutely cover the blackout edges of the back glass. If you spread out the sheet properly, you should also be able to see the the dot matrix on the top and sides better.

Try it, you may (may not) like it.

    :beer:dunno:beer:lol
