Can you elaborate? What exactly do you mean it cracked? Was it while squeegeeing or just closing the door? I tint a lot of these POS. Yes I said POS these are the lowest quality vehicles on the market. They cut a lot of corners to make these vehicles. 

Everyone is free to try and learn from their mistakes. Thats how I got to where I am. Not saying anything is going to give this guy the grief of cracking a windshield. Sometimes that’s the only way one learns. Regular tempered glass is a lot more forgiving. 

Ive done this car twice now without covering anything in the trunk and has turned out fine. I’m using a spray bottle not a tank. This new model Accord does suck and the angle of the rear windshield is a lot steeper then the old one. 

Those types of customers are easy to see from a mile away. Especially the one that make it seem like they got the base model. Lol it’s a 3 series not an M3 or it’s a civic hatchback not a type R. All of us have data points from the thousands of interactions we have on a daily basis. They usually cant pull anything on us. I got unlucky that this one slipped through my screening process. 

Put the heatgun down and step away from the vehicle. You are going to crack a windshield and then be like most tinters and won’t ever tint a front windshield again. My advice for front windshield dont do them until you are very good at the rest of the car. The front windshield is a laminated glass that has many weak points from rock chips etc. Care is needed during the shrinking process. Also it is the only window on the vehicle that gets eye banged everyday. 
 

I can see that you are shrinking sideways and that tells me exactly your level of experience. There’s a reason tinters charge the most for a front windshield as compared to all the other windows. 

Yup that was one of the reasons I settled. I knew it was just going to get chargeback. These card companies favor the customers and will make us fight to get what is ours. I’m busy as it is and don’t need the headache.

I got this tip along time ago here and I’m just passing it along. Get some remote wire like a 12-14 gauge spool on Amazon. Preferably black. Then shove that wire into the gasket with a bone tool. This will open it up and keep dust trapped behind it making install super easy. Leave the wire in there when done. If done correctly no one will ever see it except the guy that replaces broken glass. 

I’ve heard this from you a very long time ago and just never felt the need as the prices went up so did most of the bad customers. I have my screening techniques down but this one slipped through the cracks. Trust me my techniques would have fished this one out except for the fact someone else booked the appointment for her. 🍻 brother. 

Thanks Tintdude this is something I finally feel is necessary to add to my business. On another I will just give a full refund to this customer and call it a day. The money will be well spent if I never have to see her again. 

I understand that and up to this point have come to amicable agreement with every customer but this one is on a whole different level. Whats the possible legal repercussions if I tell her to kick rocks? 

So I had a Tesla model 3 with full ceramic installed. This customer got it done two months ago. First complaint was a smudge possibility thumb print on the headliner. Ok no big deal I ask her if she could come in for me to clean. She stated she was busy and unable to come in. I asked if she had glass cleaner and that should remove the mark easily. Next day I get a call saying there’s bubbles. I told her please let it dry and I could check when you make an appointment. She states she super busy and makes an appointment two months later. Today was the day and her boyfriend brings the car in. They’re those arrow stickers to each imperfection. Front windshield two dust specks. Front right window one speck. Rear right window two dust specks. Pretty much same on the other side. Sunroof one dust speck. I heat it out and since it’s been two months these are not fully disappearing like if it was fresh. This customer now states she wants a full refund and tint to be removed. 
 

Sorry for the rant but I want to see what some of you guys would do in this case. Btw I have full video of these imperfections. I’ve already narrowed it to two options and I’m leaning one way. Whats are my options as a shop owner and what are her options legally ethical etc. Thanks Brothers. 

Im using film designs and it says to cover plug in left side of the trunk. Anyone know what’s that about? 

Save the headache and tell them no. Trust me you dont want those customers. 

I did one awhile back and it did the same thing. Customer drove out and stopped to look at it. It only did that in certain angles of the sun hitting it.

That stuck bolt is in a collar and with a punch can be punched out. I put the collar on a bench vise to drill out. Used a punch to set it back in. 

Mods move this if this aint the right spot. Hoping for more exposure. Tesla Model Y front windshield rear view mirror removal. Some models come with twist off some have a t20 bolt. Well Tesla impeccable quality control sometimes they put too much blue locktite. This bolt snapped off. The assembly is not sold separately and its one whole camera assembly that’s probably gonna require calibration. Cha ching. If it feels too tight dont take it off and decline the job or if you’re extra frisky you can  probably take a soldering iron to heat up the bolt to lessen the locktite. There’s 6 T bolts that you can take the bracket off and reverse drill the bolt out which is what I did. Found another bolt with the same threads to replace broken bolt. Since moving the camera theres going to probably be an error message like park assist unavailable. With the help of a tesla tech i was able to go into service menu and find all the cams were green and good to go. Driving for a day or so should make the message go away. Good luck Tint bros. 

If I ever did that to a customer’s vehicle i would make it right. Replace the glass and retint it. Good thing I have a plotter and rarely cut on the glass. If I do i know how much pressure to put without cutting all the way through. Film will tear on my cuts. 

Been using Global QDP since 2012 and have never had a failure except for a bad roll that curled. Seen 3 Llumar ATC adhesive failures during the same period. Global Ceramic is my best seller. 

Laminated front doors dont take more time. In fact they’re easier to file the edges then the single plane. 

Same here I havnt done the model 3 yet but the model Y is based on the model 3. Looks exactly like the same windshield. Remove A pillar soak shield with plastic covering the dash. Microfiber in the A pillars dash holes and I remove the front camera plastic. No need to remove the front camera just the plastic housing that has felt on it. 

I think the gladiator might be a unicorn. First vehicle that does not require any shrinking. I didnt do the front windshield but it sure looks like it doesn’t require any shrink. Tape the side felt and install. 🎂 

Two possibilities. Its not shrunk enough. Once you’re done lift the film again and do a final shrink down. Two its the way you squeegee and you’re creating the fingers. 

$100k is easy depending on your area. My friends from outta state tell me their prices and im shocked. $100k is just $300/day. That’s ☝️ car a day. 

Try higher anchor line. Its your technique. The higher line should help you by putting more shrink in the lower half.
