@STEK HOWARD - I was able to compress PPF (3M, STEK, Xpel and Suntek) about 0.1 mils when using excessive force with my thumb. I got about 0.2 mils of extra compression when using two hands. With mild thumb pressure, the readings did not change.
thanks for the follow up, i had brought in my own calipers to play around with today but found they somehow had locked closed??
i think the test could be done with more visibility into the method but i also understand the lab is off limits to cameras, that does make it very hard to show results. finally very curiuos where you received a sample of that WS shield from? we have never sold that particular film here in the states.
Thank you
Howard

@3M Tech Guy just curious if using calipers is the truest and best way to measure the thickness of a product that can easily be pinched thus reducing the thickness, plus is taking one measurement of one piece the best method of testing?
thank you

Thank you for the support, Michael. There seems to be great products available from a variety of companies which is great.
I used the last of the Dynoshield you were so kind to send on the headlights for this Honda Fit. We had old friends visiting from NOVA this past weekend and they brought down their tired 140k car. I couldn't leave it alone so I put my friend to work as the girls ran off for the afternoon. I opted to do a light polish using Shine Supply Burn Out and topped with Shine Supply Daddy-O. I restored the headlights (800g, 1500g, 2500g, compound, polish) and protected w/ the STEK film.
The little turn signal protrusion was my biggest challenge. I don't think pre-cut headlights would've worked well as I needed the extra material to tack to the surrounding paint to allow sufficient stretch to get past the large bump.

end result, it's down and on there
Hi Larry, pleasure. Technology these days has certainly come a long ways and films are more advanced than they have ever been. Thank you for the additional write up and photos of your weekend project. That is certainly a noticeable difference from start from finish!! I hope they appreciated your efforts and enjoy the water run-off, rock chip and scratch resistance of their restored headlights. Reach out any time if we can further support you! Best, Michael

What is the warranty on the Black PPF? Do you ship to Mexico?
Our DYNOblack carries a 7 year warranty, please email michael@stek-usa.com for shipping details!

Hey Larry, thank you for the thoughtful right-up. I think you have taken a very responsible approach to further develop your skills, your photos are great. We would encourage you to give your film options a good stretch test when nailing down which you decide to install. Best, STEK Michael

Recently at STEK USA we introduced DYNOshades, a line of Paint Protection Film designed to protect automotive lights and enhance their aesthetics. Using our unique manufacturing process, this 8mil thick puncture resistant film offers a hydrophobic, anti-contaminate, and self-healing top coat while being extremely comfortable. These products allow your customer to further customize and protect their vehicle by using a 30%vlt (DYNOsmoke), 45%vlt (DYNOshade), or DYNOyellow PPF on headlights, taillights, and chrome pieces.
We also introduced DYNOblack earlier this summer, our high-gloss black Paint Protection Film. This film is the go-to upgrade for popular vinyl roof and hood services being more durable than traditional substitutes. This product also shares our HYDROphobe® top-coat technology making for a long lasting and easy to maintain high gloss black PPF.
To find out more about these products and our company comment below, shoot us an email to info@stek-usa.com or check out our website at www.stek-usa.com. Thank you for reading!

make sure you are also spraying down the floor and surrounding area with water to keep that dust down. when stripping film keep any unnecessary people away, fans off, doors closed....

Are you willing to relocate? I speak to shops across the country who are looking for a high quality tinter.

I'm very interested in this. To clarify, is this a true PPF film or something more like a heat stretch vinyl?
Thanks, Josh
Hi Josh,
This is a true PPF, and like the rest of our DYNO line of films it's hydrophobic, self healing, and extremely low texture. There is not a worry of paint showing through but it's not solid black either, how I describe it is if you take a piece and hold it up to your eyes and look at a bright light it's like looking thru welding goggles.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
We sell this film in 2 sizes
60x50 foot rolls and 60 by 10 foot sheets.
Thank you
Howard

There is a slow growing trend of installers doing ppf inside the home, stainless steel appliances, back splashes, counter tops... as these appliances get better looking and more expensive the market to protect the looks will grow. Now is the time to look into this and get a large share of the local market, there are a lot of people out there who don't even know they need this yet!
-
on the side mirrors it looks like you brought the film over the edge just enough to peel, you either want to fully wrap the edge with enough film to get a good " bite" over the edge or not at all and bring the film to the edge but not slightly over it.
-
Thanks for sharing that Metropolitan Detail. Our film does have incredible stretch because of our unique manufacturing process, allows you to go further with a 60” than many think possible. Hood looks great!
-
our industrial division makes a 14 mil window film that is air channeled adhesive similar to vinyl. This film is mostly used for the wind turbine blade protection, but we have quite a few people using it for high impact areas in the off road industry on light bar lenses, door sills, rockers...
shoot me an email if you need more information. howard@stek-usa.com

We have seem some impressive work from King of Clear Bra in California. Their install of STEK USA’s DYNOmatt paint protection film is captured below. Our DYNOmatt is extremely hydrophobic, self-healing, anti-contaminate, and anti-yellowing. Easy to install, and available to order. Find out more here: https://stek-usa.com/dynomatt.html
-
And i do mean top to bottom literally as the bottom carbon fiber panels were covered in one our industrial films. The rest of the car was custom patterned in our DYNOshield PPF as well as our DYNOmatte PPF on the carbon fiber rockers and door sills.
-
DYNOcarbon is now on the market and ready for your shop. I know this sounds like a bad sales pitch but I am literally down to less then a dozen rolls until mid October.
please email me at howard@stek-usa.com or give me a call at 425-623-3973 to be the first in your area with one of the most unique PPF films ever.
rolls are 60 inch by 8 feet in length.
thank you

its time for me to jump in here and just lay some facts out.
STEK DYNOshield is not sold in china
we do manufacture many white box films for companies all over the world, this maybe a film from our plant designed to there specs but without any proof from dennis its just typical internet chatter for now.
here in the states we have tested our films that we distribute for over a year and have been selling for a year past that and we have not had any of these issues. If there are people with weird lines on there film from us not a single one has come to me to report it which is very odd??
if anyone here would like to actually see the film in person and install some themselves for a real world test , please send me a pm or call me directly. I would be happy to send you out some samples.
