Just out of curiosity why the switch? I've heard good things about Xpel's film. Sorry I don't have any insight on the curling issue as I've never used Llumar beyond a sample.
I went to a new dealership and that’s what they use.

I had to reprint out like every window my first day because it kept fruit roll upping on me. I think because it’s thinner then it doesn’t keep its shape as well and it’s rolled onto the core opposite. I definitely think the curl makes it more difficult than easier but maybe I’ll get used to it

I just recently switched to Llumar tint and am having trouble with the film curling or rolling in on itself. As soon as I pull the liner off, the film wants to curl up. Anyone had this issue? I’m coming from xpel film and never had this issue

What would be the point of using a separate cleaning solution? Seems like you would just need to carry around two bottles now.

What film are you using? We use Xpel PPF surface prep on the bottom corners or trouble spots.

Thanks all, I will continue to keep shrinking.

Is it necessary to shrink sunroofs?

Trash bag is fine you just need heat and some sunlight.
Do you leave the heat on defroster with the trashbag on or just the normal air vents?

Its probably mot worth it incase you get water into the electronics but you can try just spraying the film and not the actual pieces your going to install on.

what exactly did they want done in the car?

Thanks, glad its not just me

Ive done two of these and both times the patterns suck (I tried suntek and xpel patterns). Am I just installing wrong or are the patterns bad? I had to trim the round part on the top corner about 1/8 inch so it wouldn't hang over.

2 screws behind the handle and pop the top

All new Acura's are very easy. 2 screws behind the door handle and 2 screws behind the handle on the panel door panel and pop all the tabs. Some of them you just need to pop the top of the panel off of the seal.

That's what I wanted to know, thanks.

Thoughts on putting ppf on a windshield to protect form rock chips/cracks? (this would be my own personal vehicle)
-
It was an Audi SQ5, 2 windows but all 4 sides need to be tucked. I tried reverse rolling on one window but when I stick one end on the glass, I couldn't get the sides tucked in without the liner rubbing on the glass. I tried tacoing it in which was better but because 4 sides have to go under the opening, I still had atleast one side rubbing on the headliner.

Anybody have tips on installing a sunroof or links to good videos? Checked youtube but couldn't really find anything. Im having trouble putting the film on the glass without touching the sides. The glass is about 2 inches bigger than the opening for the film to fit through.

Thanks for the detailed pics. Just did one today and it was super easy to do.

You work for Porsche, right? For those I’d do the same as what a whole windshield pays. It’s mostly pano roofs on those, so the amount of film and prep work is pretty close to the same.
Panamera’s SUCK!
Its a 7 badge car dealership. This car in particular was a Jaguar F Pace which has 2 sunroofs but I got 2 hours for it. And I tried top loading my most recent Panamera which was a lot easier for those cars in particicular but I suck at top loading and kept creasing the sides but that's gonna be my strategy for those cars.

1 hour for windshield eye brows and 2 hours for a whole windshield as well. Anyone have recommendations for hours on a sunroof?

My Dealership pays 2 hours for two front rollups and 4 hours for a whole car

I am in Idaho. It certainly doesnt have the heat of Arizona (Luke AFB/Phoenix was first duty station) but the sun is out and temps are in the 90's for weeks and over 100 at times. There is a 3m installer in Boise, though i need to verify the specifics.
Thanks for the info and keep it coming! I am looking to have my car done in the next week or so.
Hey James,
We are located in boise and use XPEL CS and XR. Feel free to send me an email with any questions or concerns. We can show you around our shop and let you try out our heat displays. paintprotectionfilm@lylepearson.com
