Just out of curiosity why the switch? I've heard good things about Xpel's film. Sorry I don't have any insight on the curling issue as I've never used Llumar beyond a sample.

I went to a new dealership and that’s what they use.

I've dealt with it for 15 years, :dunno occasionally I'll get a roll that wants to go full on fruit roll up. But it's still manageable, I'm told a little curl is helpful for install but my experience with other films is minimal so I can't really offer a comparison.

I had to reprint out like every window my first day because it kept fruit roll upping on me. I think because it’s thinner then it doesn’t keep its shape as well and it’s rolled onto the core opposite. I definitely think the curl makes it more difficult than easier but maybe I’ll get used to it

  2. It was an Audi SQ5, 2 windows but all 4 sides need to be tucked. I tried reverse rolling on one window but when I stick one end on the glass, I couldn't get the sides tucked in without the liner rubbing on the glass. I tried tacoing it in which was better but because 4 sides have to go under the opening, I still had atleast one side rubbing on the headliner.

  3. Anybody have tips on installing a sunroof or links to good videos? Checked youtube but couldn't really find anything. Im having trouble putting the film on the glass without touching the sides. The glass is about 2 inches bigger than the opening for the film to fit through.

You work for Porsche, right? For those I’d do the same as what a whole windshield pays. It’s mostly pano roofs on those, so the amount of film and prep work is pretty close to the same.

    Panamera’s SUCK!

Its a 7 badge car dealership. This car in particular was a Jaguar F Pace which has 2 sunroofs but I got 2 hours for it. And I tried top loading my most recent Panamera which was a lot easier for those cars in particicular but I suck at top loading and kept creasing the sides but that's gonna be my strategy for those cars.

I am in Idaho. It certainly doesnt have the heat of Arizona (Luke AFB/Phoenix was first duty station) but the sun is out and temps are in the 90's for weeks and over 100 at times. There is a 3m installer in Boise, though i need to verify the specifics.

Thanks for the info and keep it coming! I am looking to have my car done in the next week or so.

    Hey James,

We are located in boise and use XPEL CS and XR. Feel free to send me an email with any questions or concerns. We can show you around our shop and let you try out our heat displays. paintprotectionfilm@lylepearson.com
