Just got my car tinted on 2 front windows a day ago. Driver side is fine. Passenger side not so much. If you look at the lower portion there is a piece that is just hanging off of the tint and it's cut a little short... Is this something I can get removed/re-installed?
Called the shop owner and the guy said it's custom and hard to get it precise...
I would definitely have that redone. -
Thought this was funny so I figured I’d share.
had someone just call me asking me to tint the two front windows on a x3, he asked about a warranty so I told him I’d warranty any peeling or fading or if there are any obvious imperfections. Says “I don’t want any bubbles I want guaranteed perfection, it’s a BMW”.. told him that’s not happening and he pretty much hung up. 😂- pbalentine and Roach

How do I prevent popcorning on defroster lines?
This is what I do. Use a clay bar instead of a scrub pad (it picks up more dirt between the defroster lines) and before install I turn the rear defrosters on. I only do this to cars like mustangs etc.

The distribution of the light is just as important as the brightness is. Sunlight is always going to win.
Without light being full in the ambient then you are probably just blinding yourself with a single 10k lumen light.
My lighting around the shop isn’t great at all. So I’m trying different things the only problem is getting the light to show the bubbles which is a bit frustrating.
-
Hello everyone, I have a question. Let me start by saying I use a 10,000 lumen work light that I move to each window as I install the film. Now why is it that I cannot see any visible tiny air bubbles from debris until I bring the car outside to natural lighting.

Hey does anyone have a waiver I can print out? I have a ram 1500 coming in for his windshield and I’m afraid of the electrical box getting wet.. I’ll use as little water as possible by putting more slip solution in but still have to cover my a**. I already informed him about it and he’s perfectly fine with it but you never know 💁♂️

I would say more, but I've been in business for a long time plus our winters are mild and bright so customers still look for the product.
Yeah, right now there’s snow on the ground and it gets dark pretty early. The first day I opened I have to say I almost had 30 calls the first week, had no ads, no pictures, no reviews, and a sh*tty website. Not sure why, but it was at the end of busy season I’m assuming that’s why.

just do a GOOD job and reasonable prices and people will recommend ya....you will get busy.....where in central jersey are ya ?
I’m in freehold area, there’s not many tint shops around me. And I’ve been doing pretty great jobs I really focus on quality, been hitting a few glass shops too and giving them my info for flat glass which seem promising.

Looks like a trash install, even as a fairly new tinter I wouldn’t let a customer leave with an install like that.

This year is kinda weird cuz of Covid, cuz you shouldn't see three cars a week in this season. MAKE SURE YOU SET YOUR BUSINESS UP ON GOOGLE MAPS AND CLAIM IT!!!!!!! I cannot stress this enough. Yelp is great, but around here I get about 90% of business from Google searches.
Should I be seeing more or less ? I already am set up on google and maps, I completely agree with you that google is #1 to get your name out there. Probably because a lot of people are still out of work and doing anything to keep em busy I’d assume

in the last four years, they have put an insane amount of restrictions on you.

from what I see, it’s not stopping anyone from getting tinted. Almost every car the passes me has tint on there vehicle new or old.

Yep, just as I thought he called me today complaining about all the water marks that have yet to dry saying it looks like sh*t. I’m almost positive he’ll want me to come back and do it over. I really want avoid going back all together because I’m sure he’ll never be happy ( not the first one who tinted this truck, found out 2 other people tried) in everyone’s experience what have you done in this situation.
update: he wants me to come back 😊
-
Everything turned out to be easy, but the guy wanted a perfect tint job, not to mention the glue from the last tint he didn’t tell me about, and doing mobile work in a truck yard with dirt and dust flying all over. Did a pretty good job IMO but he didn’t seem happy. Very dissatisfied when this happens.

Nice, are the sweeps easy to take out ?

Have one coming in Thursday, anything I should know? Thanks everyone

Yeah I’d figure, I shouldn’t have a problem then. Thanks again for the help

Even as a new business I should see numbers like that ?
Getting started
in Window Tinting - General Discussion
Posted · Edited by Justint
I started tinting about a year and a half ago, I would buy cheaper tint to practice with (Lexen was my go to practice tint, and seems to hold up on my friends cars) and wasting a ton of $$$ on tint film after a few months I started getting decent enough to charge for it. I ended up getting a license and have a few hundred cars under my belt now, I’m still not the best and have to learn a lot but just takes a ton of repetition. Hardest thing for me was getting clean installs and learning how to properly clean a window before the install but overtime you learn what works best for you.
