I have a nice sized sealed box for my subs. I was wondering, whats the loudest type? I have faced mine in every direction and find facing the trunk to be the best, but the trunk is gonna fall apart the way it gets hit.

Also, it seems that if the subs had a more solid surface to play against they would be louder. Would it be worth trying to do anything to the trunk?

Running:

two Kicker Comp VR 12" dvc wired for two-ohm stereo

audiobahn a8002t 400 rms x 2

1 farad capacitor

he's talking about building a wall...I do believe. walls are good sometimes and bad sometimes, all depends on your setup. if you don't want to blow apart your trunk then turn down the gains on the amp, you are going to lose volume but gain SQ and save your trunk

It depends on what kind of music you listen to and what style of bass you want. Ported boxes are louder at a certain frequency, but above and below that tuned frequency, the volume is much less. Sealed boxes hit a broader range with less difference in volume. Bandpass is a mix of the two. The reason the bass sounds quieter when they are pointing at you is because the bass waves have not had time to fully form before they hit your ears. When they face backwards, they have time to form by "rolling" around the box and forward to your ears.
