8milattachment2.jpg8milattachment.jpg8milattachment1.jpgThis was due to a truck ramming the glass. Sledgehammers weren't enough! You can see the truck's skidmarks on the ground. It even broke the frame free from the foundation.

Tough stuff!

Thank you for posting the pics and mentioning Bondkap. Was the glass replaced yet? Did they use tempered again or is the customer going another way?

I don't know about other states codes, but here in Tenn, It is illegal for a glass Co to install non tempered glass in an area that requires it. Even though they know that I'm coming right back behind them with 8 mil. Case in point, my beer store got robbed about a month ago. The perps threw a rock thru the door. They stole about 500 cash and 2000.00 in cigs. I told Habib to have the window replaced with annealed glass, and I'd come back and put 8 mil with attachment. I even called Binswanger, with whom I have a very good relationship, and they said that If I didn't treat the glass prior to install, they HAD to install tempered. Still did the job, both doors with attachment. :beer

Tempering is not the only safety glass. You can use laminated glass like is used for a car windshield. I have installed 3/8 laminated safety glass in the sidelites of the little bus stop kiosks. So his customer could use laminated glass instead of tempered. Maybe he could even install some nice 1 1/16 bullet resistant bank type glass. Should only cost $20,000 or so! Hmmm.... maybe the 3 inch glass at Shamu's tank !! OH the mind is buzzing now!

I have a new manufacturer for the plastic. New lower cost of only .95 / foot for volume. Yes, it does cover a sloppy DOW job and make it look great too! It is also faster than taping and tooling. I went on site with Mr Windo in south west florida to guide on bonding 9 patio doors. We shot 995 and applied BondKap to a patio door in 9 minutes complete! In any business time is money. that was fast. By the third door he was right on target and completed the doors with time to spare. Some people like using the double stick tape products, that's great. This is another alternative for anchoring and providing some piece of mind for your customer and increasing your sales.
