Maserati 08 Gran Torismo

Had to bulk cut copy a single 15'' fender pattern on a Black metallic GT fender that was sent from repair shop . Had to use 3M film to match clear coat on existing sections... and could not shake off a slight stretch/ pull impression on the mid top center point area. The other side had the stretch marks on all perimeter areas [pre cut]. Any Maserati GT advice from someone who has ppf time on this car.

Since you're doing bulk you are at an advantage at least. The 3M stuff is tough. To prevent the stretch marks and distortions, apply lots of water/alcohol mixture with a slight spray of soap/water to the material and fender. This will allow the material to glide with out sticking, but also allow you to have a nice tack after you squeegee it. Grap each end of the film, stretch it apart and lay it down across the fender, allowing it to conform to the shape. Once the material is conformed to the shape, squeegee each end of the fender working your way to the middle, getting all of the liquid/air out. By stretching the material apart prior to tacking you're getting a nice even stretch across the entire film surface, which prevents any nasty stretch marks or distortions in the film. The 3M stuff is fun. If you master it you can put on the other films with ease.

this fender is shaped like a Vette on the top and a 08 Accord on the fender wheel arch.. in this case a full fender would have been an easier task as opposed to an extented section. The precut side of the car I was trying to match was hammerd out.
