Vosa stops 45% VLT

Recommended Posts

I dont care what it makes me grass nark or whatever,I have been tinting since 96 and I am sick of people passing through the trade such as signwriters ,windscreen companies ,valeters etc.

If you think about it they are the ones ruining our trade without any concern because they have other incomes and they dont even tell customers the truth of the situation.

I am talking about pricks fitting 20% on the fronts ,another thing to consider .does your family use the same roads as these idiots with dark film .

Keep it legal whatever it takes

reason not much people have replied is more down to the fact if you look through this section you'll get your answers, the uk vlt levels have been discussed to death.

basically, just tint legel and you wont have a problem.

if you have to tint fronts, slap a 70% tint on them which combined will make them about 58% roughly depending on factory tint involved. or even 55% if the factory tint allows it.

I have a very good relationship with our local police force and they confirmed to me that going by their rules (which they showed me in hard print) that if a window measures at 46% to 100% then they get advice to remove it. no points on licence or fines.

ps they confirmed this info on monday morning so to my knowledge nothing has changed since then!

sounds like your local vosa guy is a complete jobsworth, if you ever meet him, ask why he has a zero tolerance approach whilst there are cars out there with !llegal glass from the factory??

I dont tint many front windows anymore and its been that way since 2005 and I do all I can to help people understand the truth and law.

My Vosa guy is excellent and has sympathy for the situation,I also pass on details of cars with !llegal tints and the company who did it and he hunts them down ,although even with the assistance of trading standards

he is unable to stop the hacks in my area .

What cars are you aware of that are not conforming ???,surely its discrimination and a loop hole for the rest of us.

Are you a tinter or a nark. Passing on details of illegally tinted cars to VOSA. Happily I would advise people on the law and I refuse to do anything on fronts, I am keen on keeping it legal. But to stoop that low? :trustme:spam

Not looking to meet a keyboard warrior but does your website homepage picture a vehicle(shogun) with fader film on front roll downs.Nuff said

I agree 110% with the latter of what you say, but why stick them in? If it bothers you that much why not go round and have it out with them face to face??

Too true. As I mentioned on here last week I have a website that is in need of updating. it was done over 10 years ago, by a frend for free, hence the dated photos. Ive actually had someone look at my website though probarbly the first one in years. and please feel free if you feel the need to report me for a spot check :homer stopped doing fronts four years ago, although when I was first at it I would go to 35% on the fronts but no more for my own peace of mind. I can understand your anger at these cowboys who make all our lives awkward. But I could not lower myself to be a grass. if you know someone who is tinting illegaly have you not paid them a visit to try and sort this out first?

Sun Buster and Diamond ,you should remember the good old days fitting 35% Max I enjoyed 8 years, then came the idiots.

In January 2004 after a visit from VOSA I stopped tinting front roll downs and I saw all my private work go elsewhere this went on until June ,so I visited all the various local trades offering window tinting.

Basically they were all pleased that the only specialist in the county (at that time) was not tinting front roll downs and they continued to capitalise on this whilst having a good laugh.

And the only company that agreed and responded favourably was another dedicated specialist Tint Company ,so you can imagine my frustration and guess what its still happening the same way.

Surely it would be better to all have a level playing field

So my question to you all is ,How would you all make a change.given my situation

Sunbuster my issue is not with Specialist such as yourself, sorry if I gave that impression.
