any known glass problems ?

Google, type, 'nickel sulfide inclusion'. :gasp

Nickel sulfide inclusion = a contaminate found in glass manufacturing.

This inclusion crystal grows when the glass temperature gets hot enough.

Tempering usually finds this, if not a heat soak/bath will. Those that are not found sit in wait for just the right conditions to grow.

And, it must be dead center in the glass thickness. Once conditions are ripe/right, the crystal will grow placing great outward pressure against the high-density tempered surface.

When that pressure reaches a point greater than the surface strength, you experience (if you check with the glass guys) what is known as

Spontaneous Glass Breakage

This glass was almost there, adding tint increased the thermal stress causing an 'inclusion' to become 'Spontaneous Glass Breakage'.

Google that too and there is plenty to read. :lol

bring the car in and trace the crack with a ball point pen, if you can pick up a "divot" on the glass, something hit the glass causing the shatter.

theres no tracing a crack on tempered glass :gasp

really, hmm learn something new every day...tomorrow im going to try potty training.

I would say either way it is not your fault, so I would tell the cust. that your sorry it happened but there is nothing you can do about it cuz you have tinted thousands of side windows without this happening before so it has to be something to do with the manufacturing of the glass itself....just tell them even if scotty himself tinted this window it still would have broke!....sorry scotty I couldnt resist :gasp
