Delta & American teamed up to accomplish this feat......

I and others have had problems with Delta in the past couple years. Mainly in Atlanta. Most recently in Cincinnati.

The Wife left Charlotte at 2 PM and was to catch a connecting flight at 7:20 in Detroit to Dallas.

This was on June 28th when the weather was so bad in Detroit, they got diverted to Cincy not only because of weather but a mechanical issue as well.

Stuck in Cincy Sun night, finally got a flight to Dallas, but, due to bad weather in Dallas, they got diverted to Tyler, Tx.

Sat in Tyler till late in the evening, when the weather at DFW finally cleared, then finally got to leave and land in Dallas.

Originally scheduled to land in Dallas 5 PM Sun, but Finally landed in Dallas 10PM Mon night !

One time I beat an airplane going from Dallas to San Francisco........

AND, this was in the days of the double nickle.....
