Glass is large but tempered. Largest units might be 45 or more SF each. What do people think of the chances of breakage?

No way in hell.

Even with a waiver, the customer will feel disappointed, should they break. I would suggest something else. Why not a decorative film? Does the light have to be completely cut out? There are alternatives to blackout. You could print black on white frost on the interior facing side and reduce the risk.

For what it is worth, We have put black out on tempered units per customer request, more times than I can count. I have never had a tempered unit break to date. Im sure it is possible but in order to get glass to temper, It has been heated far in excess of the film will do. Im Just remember free advice is worth what you pay for it.
