some one makes a special pair of plier's just for removing and reinstalling pins like what you are talking about. I haven't seen one in many years though. We use to have a pair at the fisrt shop I worked at.

It looks like a set of channel lock plier's With a pin that flips down to remove the pin and out of the way to reinstall the pin. :lol
