Hatch struts in my way!

Recommended Posts

Hey! Doing a pontiac vibe this week. Not sure what year, mid 2000's. Anyways, as you guys already know the rear struts on the hatch are mounted to the glass. Why??! I saw one post where the tinter cut slits around the strut mounts. But the mounts are about the size of a quarter. A little smaller probably. I kind of wanted to take the struts off but im not sure how to get the mounts off the glass. The actual struts are easy to remove. Anybody got a tip on this one? Most people just cut a slit and it works out? I cant picture it 100%

Thanks!!

I like to spray a dab of die electrical grease under the button and make a relief cut around the button when removing them. Helps keep possible stress fingers from forming on a hot day.

Cheers

I'd like to see how that's done?
