Thanks WTFhat, I will do that and post.

I found with my unit, the bearings supporting the tool holder had failed and i have now resolved that issue. Sure, you get what you pay for, but it's hard for me to justify spending $6000 for the elite cutter, vs $600 on an adequate cutter with a few mods required under the hood.

Being new to using a cutter I can't help sliding a piece of vinyl under it to cut stickers and reverse imaged "move over ->"  visor strips hehehehe!  

 

Thanks to your advice FoxHat I dropped it right back to 20g pressure and a barely perceptible 45 deg blade seems to work for tint and vinyl.  Just how little the blade needs to come out really surprised me.
