no ma'am
Thoughts Am I gonna make this worse with film?
Bham
Nope. It is in between the two pieces of glass. Laminate Failure. Film might actually slow that down a little.
no ma'am
I'm overly cautious about things I'm ignorant to. I knew what it was, just don't get many old cars. Thought absorbing heat would speed up failure
Bham
I've done a few that looked like that. Granted they never came back and said that it got worse. So that's all I'm going off of. I could be wrong, but I don't think heat is what is causing the failure. I think it is product deterioration (shelf life) of the laminate, but not 100% on that. no ma'am
drtint
You are 20 years post laminated rear glass. What ever is there will be there. Film will not change the composition or deterioration of the glass being applied to the inside. You can do nothing about the sandwich layer of laminate between the two Payne’s Bham
TNTLady
I have done several models in that year range and have seen that on all of them with origional laminate glass. No one has ever complained about the film making it worse. Bham
pitchatint
Tint job will likely have less orange peel than that paint job.
Mr paladin
I did one a couple years ago it took me 2 tries to get it clean in one piece I left a really small light gap all the way around to keep it from sucking up trash ,anyway after I shrunk it I test fitted it and final trimmed it with the liner on before final install.
