Tim, from what I saw this was only in dealings with Llumar and there CC or now PC I should say. Nothing to do with SG.
-
CC from my understanding wont even let their customers purchase the subscription to maintain active software if they fall below the minimum film purchase. I only say this because I have recently gotten calls from CC users looking to change due to this. As where if you fall below minimun film purchase, that is fine, you just have to pay for subscription. Most cutting systems out there are to facilitate film sales. Being that if you are buying enough film they will give you a system to use. They dont look at it as a money generating source, but more so a campanion to film as a tool to sell more.

It most likely would have not been working when he left if this would have been your fault.

Yes you can get in trouble. If you are physically caught, or there is proof you tinted it, I.E. receipt, window sticker ect., then you are liable. Each state is different in the penalty I believe. I am privey to the florida laws due to thats where i owned my shop.

Depends on the brand of PPF. We use to claybar before install when I worked for DC. At Enpro we wax before because the adhesive on our product is so aggressive. We want to protect the finish of the car for removal.
If your talking about VS then you don't know what aggressive is. Stuck today and peeled tomorrow. Stuff is just shy of cling on.
Anyways....
Always strip wax. Most films will lay fine with wax applied but many will have adhesion problems later. You can prevent possible headaches by striping wax ahead of time. I have tried it both ways with them all. They always stay put with the wax removed. Its a 50/50 with wax applied. Often times they are fine but the ones that have issues have always been waxed.
You obviously have not used them in the last 2 months since the adhesive has changed. Its now a 3m adhesive. You might want to check it out. Also, I have used and or tested with every other film on the market except Nano Fusion. So I think I would know what properties an aggressive adhesive is.
I have and not impressed.
Not sure wether to laugh or feel sorry for you. Selling VS is like being a Yugo dealer. Sure...you may sell a few but at the end of the day its nothing but warranty problems.
Your intitled to your opinion. I sell 100's of kits a month and pallets of rolls to our dealers. You know how many warranty claims we deal with? None.... Once in a blue moon we will get an installer that is doing an exotic with a dark color and the film was from the end of a roll. Maybe your installation style doesnt work with the film. Maybe you prep and the way you handle the film doesnt go along with the film. I am not sure. You havnt really stated anything. What I do know is we have been in business for 30 years. We wouldnt carry a product that was not suitible to put our FirstCut name with. So if the product is as bad as you claim, then why is our and our dealers experience so much different then yours? You can riddle this thread with your smileys, or you can stop and put together all the variables that are causing you so many problems and address them. Maybe you will learn somthing. I would say I can learn somthing from you but until you address your point along with experinces then I have nothing to go by but smart ass responses.

I was talking to one of the big wigs from digicut a while back and he was explaining to me the system. im very impressed with the way it works. perfect for dealer work. it wont allow you to run darker than legal film through on the highlighted windows, it keeps track of the film inch by inch. nothin I would ever consider using, but it is a very tightly ran ship they got. the only thing I dont like it the fact that you have to run thier film through, which sucks because you really have no idea what kind of film you are installing but are still warrantying it .
yea the whole system is set up for the customers needs to protect the stock and control. I worked for them for a lil bit

film jams are caused from
1. film not being loaded straight and maintaining this. test feeding it to make sure and keeping an eye on it between cuts.
2. pen pressure being set to great, or blade depth out to much, or both.
Static
1. use a tinsil strip or contact the stand maker and get different media stands.
If your machine is set up and you know how to maintain it these are not issues
as for templates not fitting, I think its to be said no on likes laying others patterns. WE ALL CUT THE BEST PATTERNS IF YOU ASK US!! lol
work with what you got. make it work for you. I loved having any systems for back windows and suv back glass's
what plotter size to buy for best PPF yield?

Roland gx-400 series or a 40" Graphtech are going to be your best bet. Most everyones PPF patterns fit on 12/18/24/30/48/60 rolls. If you are not doing a lot of full hoods and fenders that require 48/60 rolls. Even if you do one once in a while, you can order that precut kit or bulk film from just about any of us.
