Happened today........in the home was one of my competitors using the table to prepare his quote. Customers!
I acknowledged, I walked from this POS home under renovation and left him to it without even measuring. Well known subbie and low baller.
And the windows were crap not fit for tinting but he will by engaging some other poor sod.

I have about a half a roll of 20" LLumar's disgusting washed out pinkish "Pearl" film.
It will probably go to a kindergarten for kids to trash unless somone has a use for it.

It's hardly a creek.

ATD,
I've never wetted both sides of the film prior to laying it up on the glass. Never seen the need to.
Both I do more than mist I can tell you. I've always been amazed how you Yankees often mention just misting glass in previous postings.
I drown the glass and reverse roll it down the pane. Nothing is worse than developing a dry spot and then you are in deep trying to move the film.

Tint, I know what you mean but this is different. an air smear mark will go away.
But a small bit of dirt combined with films in excess of 4 thou cannot be flattened down because the substrate polyester is too thick. That's what I'm leading to.

When using films of 7 ply and up, how do you try to eliminate the tiniest speck under the film turning into a huge rock when covered over by film?
I did some 7 thou today and it looks magnificient but up real close especially from outside, you can see the odd white bubble due to a bit of crap.
Even when totally dry it doesn't go away when hard pressed.
I'm just wondering how you all get on with this inherit niggle associated with the fitting of these films?

Can't see why it should cause a stir Fimmo.
It's pretty tame.

Seeing that this industry loves copycatting one anothers' achievements,
who can lay claim to coming up with fully reflective grey/silver films being made back to front?
My guess it was Bekaert as I've not heard of any others until just recently with LLumar and 3M joining the circus.

PS. Do you commute daily to your work place from Melbourne or reside in Ballarat?

You know what they say about dogs Sly.....let sleeping dogs lie especially Dobermans.
I just tint what you can get at but I do get the trims pulled for free by the Merc mechanics and they put them back after I have applied felt to the gaskets.

I remember couple of years ago I went with my stepdad to do some house windows, the lady there said if we could please take off our shoes! so we did, started working on the windows, this lady had about 20 cats inside the house, the carpet was full of furr all over the place, our socks were full of it, my stepdad being major allergic to cats, was crying and sneezing of all those damn cats. when we were done with the job the lady ask me why he was full of tears! lol, I told her" that's how much passion we have towards our work when were done", I was almost peeing my pants! lol
Nothing like a firey devil couldn't sought out tint.

PS. I've been there done that and can understand everything you've experienced.

Read the signals Doc...this car dealer is treating you like bloody crap and obviuosly has contempt for you being "just a tinter."
Get rid of the arsehole and have the balls to say you won't be exploited. I would for absolute certain!

I've experience in both...Mad sticks like poo to a blanket and is designed to stay on aggressively and the other fails and comes off on its own accord....HPW G35.

Had a guy pestering me to do a quote from early this week. I knew he was going to get another quote.
So I organise to go out today and give him the figure and I'll take both silver and grey reflective 20's in all sizes for heat and glare control...that's what they want.
I get out there and it is a real glare deal...due west glass bright as buggery.
But what I had back at the shop which I didn't pack was a Bekaert RG10 which would do a better job.
I get the nod, do it now but I felt it wrong to not fit up the ideal film which is not with me. So I had to go all the way home, pick up the film and return which killed me an hour and a half. Man I hate that! But I did get the cheque on completion and they were elated at the result.
But isn't it always the way? The film you don't take is the one needed.

Vectras are nice but I love current Astras even better.
Try Bekaert in 7 Hills...they have a great range of tools.

Am I getting sick and tired of giving flat glass quotes all around only to find out by driving past that the job has been done and not a courtesy call to advise I haven't been successful.
It's as if bad manners rule and these arseholes think we have nothing better to do than use up our fuel, our car and our most precious commodity, our time.
The job was lucky to be 80 sq. ft.

Later Sly...I'm off to work. You get some sleep!

Bugger all TM.
I've seen fully reflective silver shiot down here go to clear backing sheet status and that was way before your 10 year time period.

Geez that stuff I put up as samples was a mofo to remove and only after 2.5 months. Hate to see it in a few years time. Both DG 35 and SB 35 film.
Anyone else verify that? Got the order which was good.

Nothing on front and 35% on the remainder of the car.

I have been visited today by a Hanita rep who advises me that their white frost film can come in both PS and CDF adhesives.
Interesting if true....can anyone else confirm that to be fact?
I haven't seen the CDF sample.

Just viewed on TV last night....what a lot of crap!
Talk about disgusting meat market without a brain.
The shielas were very ordinary (especially the one with the shifted silicone boob job that left a chest crater bigger than the Grand Canyon), and the guy hardly had enough beard to shave.
Only saving grace was the natural geography.
Won't be suffering it again.
PS. The snakes are children's pythons...totally harmless. They were brought in for the show....it was all staged and was in the papers about it.
