Extract from the latest IWFA website's Q and A's...........
How Long Will Film Last?
The effective life of window film will vary by the type of film, type of glass, window construction, compass orientation of glass, and in which part of the world the building is located. There are documented cases of film lasting 12 to 22 years or more in some instances. This should not, however, be assumed to be the normal expected life.
All quality window films for residential and commercial use are warranted by the film manufacturers for a minimum of five years (certain products may have extended coverage). The warranty includes an address to contact the manufacturer directly should any questions arise either before or after the installation of the window film.
What a lot of BS!
Even the IWFA can't lie straight in bed.

(I get a series (6-10?) of horizontal lines of light for each headlight-dangerously distracting when there's a number of cars behind me)
We've covered this before.....it's not a problem associated with film quality but a problem associated within the physics of applying window film over heater demister lines.
Once any film is applied, the bump on each line of the rear bends the visible light coming through and over it.
This only occurs at night and you can't do anything about it.
You'll also find that with the sides is is not evident because the glass surface is dead smooth.
Dr. Devil and that will be $40 thank you.

Try it.

That's a pity Sus. don't ask me how to help..I'm computer useless.
Anyway I must off to the lair...it's nearly 11PM and although devils are nocturnal, this one isn't.

Guys,
Just a suggestion that with so many of you on line at times, why don't you use the TD facilities of the chatlive?
It's great and just like being on the phone.
What I'm doing more of now is hooking on and if someone comes along it can be great fun and very informative.
Earlier tonight our time, I was able to offer some valuable info to a newbiew Slydog out of the UK and his impending visit to Germany to do a 4 day tint course on how to become a tinter and shell out 1400 pounds.
Might see ya on it before I hit the sack?

Met.
The distributor is one of these guys who issues these warranties but when it hits the fan, he puts every obstacle in the way to prevent an easy resolution to the problem because it costs him grief.

Just want to know your reaction to this?
If you no longer buy film from a particular distributor, does he have the right to wipe off and no longer honour any lifetime warranty film claims that may occur later on into the future?
I don't think they can. Hasn't happened to me but to fellow tinting mate it has.

Leo,
looks like that really old dyed 20% NR film from the early 1980's that use to go from black to the colour now on the caddy.

Was here Doc and now back to the lair for a bite.

G'day TD,
It's been all over the news here this evening. It just looks like a very small bit of black crap in a round bit of orange tint
We had a beautiful day for observing as there was not a cloud in the sky. The astonomers were beside themselves with glee.

I use to do lots of measure and quotes for domestic situations after hours back in the early 80's. Husband and wife together.
Nowadays I never venture out at night and try to do the measure over the phone when the enquiry comes in during the day.
Anyone notice the trend in flat glass going that way these days?
The old system had both decision makers present and they could look at the samples after the quote and feel sorry for you coming out in the cold to their abode and make a hopefully favourable decision.
Today the cost of physically doing that with your time, petrol, wear and tear on the car, price shopping hizzos who only want a chat to keep them company etc. have made it less attractive for me. Do you feel the same?

Magic.
You'd have to consider a fully reflective silver 20 or similar. This film type is like arseholes....everyone has one. It's just a matter of selecting it from your normal supplier and that should provide a TSER of around 75-80% for your customer.

Fimmo,
Get use to knocking them back and let them clog up your competitor's shop. Serious!
You can make better money elsewhere in tinting than becoming a hizzo for the removal of cheap and nasty crap.

Anything to save a precious dollar Blade. Distributors take notice! We don't forget these things. :p1ss Not the way to influence people you want to continually sell to.
