  1. I keep all my diary records year after year and when looking through '86 today, it's amazing just how much the game has changed.

The dealers I don't do work for anymore, the more bookings then for each day compared to the same time of this year many moons on, the old repeat customers who haven't returned for years, the contacts I have lost through natural attrition due to moving on in employment. The list goes on and it's why we had it so much better back in the old days.

  2. Devil,

Can you unplug the radio or if it doesn't have a plug, can you pop a battery out maybe when these other people take their brake(s)?

    Meff,

I did sneak a slight volume fiddle at one stage following it up with a directional point shift. The punk stuff was out of this world. :woowoo

And it was weirder than JJJ Dodgyone.

  3. I use johnson for my auto film, but I've recently tried to use their com/res film and it does not have a silicone release liner.  I could hardly get the liner off :broken  Are all their com/res films like this?  :thumb  If so I'm going back to LLu LLu.

    Jim,

My mate uses all their films all the time. (ie.) auto and flat and has hardly any problems. His only hiccup came with 8 ply clear security that wouldn't dry out.. he trashed the install and put on 4. Very costly for him!

But currently as I type, I have a roll of SP 35 that has to go back because of a distortion mark every 12"s about 4 ft across the roll going down the film forever. :dunno Very hard to notice it until it was installed on the glass then it stood out like dogs balls.

  4. What can be worse than tinting on a building site with some other tradey guys pouring out head bagging, techno, weirdo, crapper rapper music from outer space right beside you at warp 10 decibels.:passout

You can't do anything about it because it's not your radio equipment nor change the channel to something more sedate.

    Gee I hate that.

  5. Guru,

Not telling you how to suck eggs with all that experience but as you know the very light silver films for shopfronts provide great light transmission with reasonable TSER.

Probably better than a dye/metal combination IMO....less to fade out and go belly up down the track.

For us downunder the Sunscape range with the highest VLT is only the DG 55 and that still might be too dark. 43% TSER as well. The Sunscape is sputtered so a better product should prevail over their normal films.

A better bet would be a product like V-Kool with its 70% VLT with no reflectivity increases on glass in or out and some 54% TSER. The killer is the price and the exclusivity arrangements. These are high end films and have to be sold that way and shouldn't be compared to conventional films.

Way up the cost and offer both technologies at different costings and associated profits.

PS. Someone mentioned Sunscape is PS and didn't like working with it. Not here...they're all CDF for us.

  6. have madico exterior silver 20  on my skylites. Come memorial day, it will be up 2 years.  It has almost faded to clear  :spank

What the hell TS are we continually getting served up as merchantable quality?

This is total crap or are we collectively buying some sort of film that has a built in feature that increases VLT and TSER as the time passes on? :beer

I've used it twice and that was reluctantly and now I know why no longer. :spit

  7. It's been on the news for some time now (and Current Affair tonight) but I thought you might like to hear about the plight of the Tasmanian Devil.

The poor little buggers of the adult age are suffering from mouth tumours that turn cancerous and end up killing them. Once detected, the tumours spread rapidly and most of the mature population has the infection. :spit

They don't know what causes it and the national park people are trapping them for study and medical research to find a cure for it's a race against time.

Even Walt Disney Studios who made zillions out of this little critter and famous on the international scene are tipping in money to help the poor little bastards.

Here's hoping to save this fella that only a mother devil could find attractive!

  8. Just the other day, I had to call in on my accountant at his office complex.

When I came out, a competitor's similarly signed vehicle was parked right behind my own in a no standing area. :hmmm:lol I'd never heard of this guy's tinting company so he wasn't an associate.

I'm sure he saw me and then took off. :lol

I'm now wondering if he has checked out the tenants' names within the building whilst I was upstairs thinking that maybe a quote for flat glass was going down which was not the case? :hmmm

This is the first time this has ever happened to me and because his vehicle was noticed by me, I guess it can work both ways. Very Cloak and Dagger stuff this!

Anyone else have something like this occur? :lol

I'll let you know if anything comes of it.

  9. I've been doing considerable homework on this product since I last spoke about it.

Could any of you sell Lumisty at the suggested $35 US per sq.ft.?

If I had it, I'm sure I couldn't flog it at that figure....it's an impossible ask. 10 times that of white translucent and yes I realise it is doing a different job.

I'd really love to get into this film and I understand development cost and licensing agreements but gee it's a huge ask. Imagine viewing any off-cuts on the floor? :evileye

I'd love to hear from any who do have success with it.

  10. I hate the look of the bastards and I can only imagine the feeling of being pulled under by one. :lol

Up in the northern territory (Darwin) they were nearly all professionally shot close to extinction till some do-gooder placed them under a full protection act. Now it's not safe to go into any pristine river up top without becoming croc meat. They are in plague proportions and many are 10-12' long. :lol

  11. It was some -15C, but we are planning to tint LANDCRUISER  :hmmm  :hmmm  :lol

DEVIL - what's about You, need cold water  :lol  :mad  :lol ????

    Bloody oath Leo.

Hey mate.....had one in yesterday (FJ 62 model) that was tinted new in 1985 from the car dealer so it's 19 years old. There's no point even describing what the old NR film was like. :lol

I charged the owner full whack and I said to him that if he wanted to save money, come and stay and remove the old crap and use my steamer. He did that and at the end of the job asked me for any discount possible because he helped. :wtf

That was a $100 saving on its own and the s.o.b. still took both of us 5 hours to R and R with trims off. But he went away happy and now he could see where he was driving. :lol

And this morning I did the opposite. I just completed the new Sahara 100 series Landcruiser for a doctor client of mine and it was lovely. 5 kms on the clock!

And I did get your pictures of the nvde angels. :lol

All the best and have a Vodka for me too.

    Spuseba!

  12. Is that warranty given by you or the manufacture thats the question I cope all the time and the other good one is there any darker than that.

Can't say I ever get asked who provides the warranty Captain but I always say no to darker than 35%. It seems Queensland has been subjected to another new spin on the tint ball with warranties. It's not being asked down here at all!
