Ok, heres the ugly stuff.

1) I screwed 6 1/2 spacer rings over the stock 4x6 opening, and covered in cloth & resin.

2) I cut down a 10" PVC pipe to a half round, and into center sections with 2 short pieces on the ends.

3) I screwed the long center pieces into place, and screwed the ends and the center together with a MDF block.

4) the stock side panels (glassed together), were attchhed in place with spray foam, and covered that joint in resin.

Then the side panels will have a 3D socket to recieve the rear and top pieces.

The stock panel with oval mdf ring for window, and shapes for xovers, and fans.

Polyester cloth is stretched over the entire panel.

This is the socket in the side panel. (cloth is stretched over the short pvc glassed in the panel)

And here it is after 7 layers of resin, glassed in place, to preserve the shape.

Ugly Stuff !

Here is the buildup of the Big Waveguide for the sub enclosure.

I cut a Giant RF swirl out of a oval, and the oval out of a larger oval.

(The RF is laminated with aluminium now)

I attached the outer ovals th the half round PVC and MDF back with braces.

..........And wrapped the whole thing in 2 pieces of cloth. (I couldnt make 1 piece hold its shape on the inside.

So I had to plan for the only seam in the whole truck

Here it is. The vinyl will go over the outside in 1 piece.

The inside piece will wrap around the inside, with the horizontal seam, in a 1/8" dado in the resin,(circled)

The vertical seam will hide behind the RF swirl grille.

I will finish the recessed staples in welp if they are visible.

Crazy?

Thanks Z!Thats awsome stuff! How do you apply the resin?I'm workin on the console and maybe thinking about tackling the dash in my old corvette. Ive glassed the console and painted it -it looks so good! But I'm not sure I'm qualified to do the dash! This car is nice so I wont settle for second rate!I'm looking for the modernstreetrod look.Maybe a mix of vinyl covered and painted fiberglass.I'll post some pictures SOON-Thanks again! SS :heh

I would Love to see it!

The resin looks like it was :heh on. :heh

I brushed it on, in the truck, the panels would have warped if I did them out on the bench.

I did the same for the door panels too.

Thats why there are so many runs, and soooooo much sanding.
