buffing/polish/etc.. n00b question

thank you very much all... I'll let you know how I do..

as far as prep goes..

1. just wash with car wash

2. clay bar

3. wash again

then do the 3m system ???

would that work ??

Wash . 1500 ...3000... buff with your favorite 3m black foam pad and swirl/glaze...no claybar period...simply wash off vehicle after each sanding phase...Best thing to do is do your tailgate first...if you goof up..this is the least xpensive and the easiest section to repaint :bingo

I did the top of the truck and I took a whirl at the passanger door and ext cab section. the ext cab section came out really nice, but the door needs some work to get the clear overspray sanded down...

one other thing. to apply the 3m compound, finishing glaze, etc. how should I apply this??? I did it very sloppy and stuff got all over the place..
