Stupid question from a window tinter...

I just did a few rooms of my own home for "practice" with a film that claims 55% retention and 75% reflection. So if I do the math right it will reflect 75% of my free radiant winter sun heat and keep 55% of it. So I guess I can look forward to a 20% change across the board? Oh well I was bored as fook and have little experience with flat, it looks cool from the outside, and I wanted to try out my new pressurized sprayer I ghettoed out of an old fire extinguisher. Looks great; we'll see what the gas n@zi's say. :lol6

climber is correct, there are low e films for heat retention. I know several companies make them but the only one I have seen or delt with is e1220 from LluLlu. pushes like huper though.

I'm not a numbers guy, but I think it helps a little, any res. film. The numbers say not really, but my house is tinted, it's cold here, and it sure seems to make a bit of a difference than before tint. :lol6 It's just a hard thing to feel, not like standing in front of a non tinted window, than a tinted one in the summer sun. There, it's obvious. I'm just real sceptical about numbers from manus, I go more by real life experience, and to me, it sure doesn't hurt.

at the risk of sounding..............techie :nope

the insulating properties are minimal

but the same reflective qualities of metallic or ceramic-ish components

that reject solar energy, and visible or infra-red light

reflect the radiant energy (heat) back inside the room

but as an insulator, not so much  :nope
