If I may, I must weigh in...

A corked bat is used to create bat speed, since it IS lighter than a solid wooden bat. Bat speed is what generates a fierce rip on the baseball. Its been known in talk amongst the baseball community that people use corked bats when they get in a slump to help them still be productive and at the same time, figure out their problem areas. I agree its against the rules, and that the suspension should stand.

HOWEVER, Slammin' Sammy, I believe, DID NOT use a corked bat to acheive what he has acheived
