I have done a few over the years but I have never heard of them exploding at least it never happen to any I tinted that I know of. If you are gonna tint one though charge more than you would for a similar window on the side of a vehicle just for the fact that you are hanging the film upside down and you really need to squeegee as much water out as you can. Also on most I have seen there is a lot less border so you have to be more precise than you would on something like a silverado back window. No bigee but I do charge for just a little added aggravation. :beer

I have been pushing the llumar AIR 80 film. Keeps the light coming through what peopel want but keeps out 43% heat. I use pp20 if the want to cut some light down .

wow.... p/p 20 the film of 65% heat reduction....."I like it alot"

I've heard both sides of this. There are some who think that film of a sunroof could be bad; and there are others that say that those people are just using that excuse in order that they might not have to take the time to do the roof. :beer

When I first started out I was told that tinting them was a no good. I researched it and found out that it was an old porsche sun roof that had a tendency to explode when tinted. Cant seem to remember the exactly which one. But we tint them all the time now and charge just a little extra. I had also heard that film on sun roofs tends to go bad real quick. Which makes sense because they are getting direct sun. But I have no experience or proof to back that up.

      Stratos 70 on windshield, what is this?

      Captain Obvious has two cents err senses to share: 1) The film should be removed and replaced, because it appears to have adhesive blemishes that shouldn't be there, and 2) The film should be reviewed/inspected once taken from the roll to avoid losing time and resources due to manufacturing issues. Little pieces not so much, but back glass and windscreen pieces ... definitely.

      I switched so long ago... first to KDS but they went away. NT are great though. I use a piece of white strapping material as a cutting buffer between the blade and glass. Some use a button but I didn't like the feel..

      Headlight Taillight Vinyl question... (Looking for CHROME)

      Stratos 70 on windshield, what is this?

      I can't win with getting tint decent on the windshield. I had 3M on my F150 done twice and still has major defects. Recently did Stratos twice on my F350 and I see this granular spotted, texture pattern on the tint. It's super obvious in the corner here but also right in my view when driving. It's honestly hard to point out and show someone but when your driving and stuff is moving behind the windshield, it becomes more obvious. The lighting also matters. The first time I did the windshield, I had a two foot line on the windshield. Thinking it was tint, they removed the tint and it was apparently a defect in the Ford windshield. An issue between the laminated glass layers caused this big defect. So they removed the tint, I had Ford replace the windshield on a 2024 F350 but when the tint shop removed the tint, they made a bunch of micro scratches in the front windshield, probably from scrapping the glue off. I told them but I didn't care since Ford was replacing the windshield anyways. So if basically I'm trying to figure out what this texture stuff is and if I should have them replace or remove it. Replacing it might just have different issues but also afraid they will scratch the windshield.

      Need some help

      Never overlook the condition of the floor. Back when I did install, I used to mist the floor between the vehicle and the peel board. This is done between misting the window and walking toward the peel board to mist the pattern liner, peel liner and spray adhesive for install. Tacks any dust for the duration of each pattern install, so repeat each time a pattern is going to be installed.
