Man have I been looking for something like this site........been doing signs since 1995 but recently got bored with generic stuff and branching into new territory. I have done a few perforated window wraps and having fun with that. I my get into some wrapping on vehicles .....maybe. I only have a Roland VP 300 so I'm not in the leauge with the big boys with the big toys machine wise.

One thing I want to do is start to wrap boat windshields......like on bass boats. They are pretty curvy to say the least......

What is a good material to print on and use for really curvy surfaces?? I've read on here the Oracal 3951.

I like Oracal vinyls and when printing standard oval and contour cut small decals I use the Oracal 3164 which seems to work good.......but I'm guessing it probably won't work too good trying to wrap something curvy.

I have a Daige laminator (27" wet laminator) on the way......just ordered that a couple days ago. Hope that was the right choice.

Thanks for any help on the choice of wrap material......I've really enjoyed reading all the threads on here and bookmarked the site after about 30 seconds of looking around..... :twocents

looks good man, if you can sell the boat peeps do it! Just make sure you get your design time in the price! Custom wraps can take a lot of time! We use 3m control tac for our wraps. For the full wraps, you might want to look into sub printing until you get enough biz to buy bigger toys. We sub for about a year, then bought ours, worked out well because we had a name out there.

Thanks guys......appreciate the feedback.

Guardian.....where do you buy the 3M material you use?? I usually buy from Graphic Solutions Group out of Dallas which is where I bought my Roland......but always looking for the best price....

Bought a heat gun today.......what temps do you use to heat up vinyl?? I bought a $42 digital heat gun from Lowes....so it goes from like 350 to 1350 degrees.......my luck I'd set it too high and start the wrap on fire! :cool

Also any feedback on using the Oracal 3164 material for wrapping a boat windshield.....my guess is it would be really hard to use.....so better to get the 3M or the Oracal 3951??
