My frist thread... (cap locks off?)-

How do you cut out an SUV?

We start w/an angle from the last car, then use each angle/straight cut to cut each window as we go around w/a 20" box of film.

Does anyone else do this?

Mid-size SUV comes out w/the last cut being the opposite angle you started with... (Think spatial geometry w/a 'stoner' twist)

Please don't flame us, we just use this technique, double cut doors, single cut quarters & rear window, saves ~10% on film costs...

E.g.- Chev. Trailblazer.

Also we're in a high end market so not too important to shave cost, no extra time involved, just flip box over a couple times.

Mainly for fun... :lol2

hey may like where youre going with this, ill try it out

throw a suggestion back at ya.

for quarters that are inset like a rollup, i single cut like you

but for quarters like the mustang or vibe or rogue where the glass is flush with the body, or a grand am where theres 100% dots around the edge, i double cut

the best way i have found to save film is to measure from the side mirror to the back edge of the rear door glass and cut it exact to your measurement. the space between the 2 door glasses will give you just enough to get both windows cut out of. Then i trim off the top edge of the front door and use it for the rear quarter.

Time is money, hand cutting is faster than a plotter & more accurate. IMO... :lol

accurate probably, faster... no way

Maybe to a newb on a plotter but take any installer who is used to cutting with a plotter and he will smoke a hand cutter again and again. That an you cant prep windows while cutting tint by hand.
