Strange Dry shrinking problem

^ dry shrink that shizznit. Fingers are non existant. Only little triangular shape bolges when you get to the last 2-3 inches. Then you shoot it from underneat, and bam your done. Wet shrinking is a thing of the past. Evolve!

weeks ago i was having the exact same problem you're describing. it felt like i had somehow forgotten how to shrink or something. even on the easiest of windows. turned out is was my heatgun. it was worn out. got me 2 new ones and all of a sudden i haven't had the problem since. the old heatgun was plenty hot but not blowing enough. i would try a new or different heatgun than the one you're using and see what happens.

trust me....there's nothing worse than when they're totally hot but they aren't blowing enough.

Nah mines brand new, so it wont be that, i done a scenic RX4 in a couple of hours and done the BG fine, just me being dum i think, well i'll find out tomorrow

I think most of your problem is trying to shrink one point or specific area. As you shrink, you have to monitor the way the film reacts... That is to say, there is a point when you can see no further shrinking is possible without spreading the heat into the surrounding areas. Once you've over-shrunk the film, there is no way to recover it.

Try to see heat shrinking on a larger scale... The point of origin of the heat shrink on film will impact the edge of the heat shrink.

Could also try working in quadrants. It helps keeps the glass getting to hot and causing problems from over working an area.

Couple things you can try. cut the sides perfect. a finger on the side will get huge when you move it to the top or bottom. also do not "H" the window out. just a horizontal wet line in the middle. then you will be able to shrink all the way to the corners. Heat guns have thermal regulators. when they start to go bad they began to pulse heat. make sure you have a good quality heat gun. with the colder weather comming, turn on the defroster and get the window hot before you start shrinking. this will make a big difference in time and getting an even shrink. if the window is cold the upper and lower edges will be more difficult.
