protecting door panels

I top pull the panel and tuck a piece of scrap film, either one burned during a shrink or one that was creased, behind the panel and the door skin. works great for me and I'm sure I'll catch hell for saying about burned or creased film, but I'm sure you all done it at some point. instead of tossing it, keep it for panel protection or rear decks.

I don't pull any panels off, but I cover them with masking thing that people use for painting houses. It's basically plastic film with masking tape on it, quick, easy and cheap.

plenty of microfibres here too.

Do you not get contamination from these cloths.

Would love to start using them myself but worried about dirt.

I find it fine using them obviously squeegue etc before install....I get the kent care ones from asda.6 for 2 quid I usually use 3 per install.

I find you get a cleaner install by leaving the windows in. :twocents

:ditto

I despise 'body shop' jobs where they just bring me the glass.

Regardin protecting panels: I remove them, but let them hang or support them so I don't remove the wiring. I don't protect them with anything. They get a little wet, and I dry them when I'm done. If it leaves marks where the water rolls off, I take some Armor All and wipe them pretty.

you will wish you had been covering the panels when you stain some cloth door panel inserts. You should really watch out for cars with light colored cloth inserts. Those are the one that will get you. And sometimes trying to remove the water spots will make it worse.

If you don't cover um up and get part of the lighter color ones wet........ spray the whole thing so it drys even............ just saying :quote

Yet another reason to use Film on, its less likely to stain.
