If all the MFG's would do away with lifetime warranties, they would make more money, and we would as well.

A better way to deal with outlandish warranty statements would be to not wait for the market to reverse itself, but to affect change by petitioning state or province legislators to clearly define 'lifetime' in terms of warranty time period. This to protect the business operators and consumers of their State from outside product suppliers exxagerated marketing claims.

Case in point, LLumar had issues with their HPR adhesive on Centaur products in Florida and other like climates. It turned out to be a result of leaving slip behind (e.g. poor technique could = squeegeeing the film smooth and letting it dry by the sun as opposed to squeegeeing the film dry). When they discontinued selling the product in Florida a friend of mine was really upset because he loved that film and wasn't having any returns; he said it was because he squeegeed the he!! out of the film (it was sputtered). Solar Gard had a period in their history where their laminating adhesive would allow the piggyback layer to shift from its original position; couple that with gravity and/or weather strip pressure. PS adhesive is used for both laminating and mounting purposes.

this is sungard my service truck was done in 2004 and looks like this all alone the back edge I just noticed it the last few days it got reallllllllllly bad

      help arquitectural in Puerto Rico heat

      Hi, new to the forum but a previous lurker. Was wondering if you guys had any suggestions on tints for a business in Puerto Rico who's windows face north (humidity 80% temp 70-100). Main concern is heat reduction though i would like for it to not be super dark since it is a work area. Have not contacted installers yet since I wanted to have some knowledge about products and specs beforehand to make sure im getting what i need. Thank you! From what i've gathered i should look out for: dual reflective film and low absorptive/high solar reflection products used this topic among others for research: "should be a go-to such as: 3M's Night Vision15 or NV25, Vista Film's Dual Reflective18 or DR 28, LLumar's DR15 or DR25 (which closely matches 3M NV), or Madico's Optivision in and around the same number assignment. The numbers assigned to films represent the visible light transmission of the product." "The higher the reflectivity of a film product, the better when dealing with desert heat."

      It looks like the end of the roll was used which has adhesive marks from being attached to the plastic core. You can't use the very end of the film roll.

      South facing windows DR film

      Install went great. I went with NV-25, I am very happy. The room has been darkened significantly, from bright and hot to much more pleasant and enjoyable. Watching TV during the day is no longer blinding, when it is cloudy it is definitely a bit gloomy, I am glad I did not go with NV-15. I plan on getting more windows done in the future to help cut down on heat energy. Thanks for everyone's input!
