smoked tail light film

Recommended Posts

I am wondering if there is a product out that isnt so thick.

I have been using Lamin-x and years ago xpels smoked film.

it works great except its too thick. hard to stick on hard curves.

just a apin to work with.

does anyone make a film that isnt so thick?

seems like it would be easier to stretch and not have issues with it lifting on edges.

also hard to wrap lights with edges that wrap in around.

I like the product except for it being way to thick.

if they can thin it down it would be a much better product.

open to info or ideas.

maybe another company sells a thinner film?

thx

yeah I used that and didnt think much of it.

its like trying to stick window film. I thought the adhesive was super weak.

I know someone has to make a thinner mil. I like it because its had a shiney glossy look. and conforms like clear bra.

I dont understand why it has to be so thick. if they could make it thin like clear bra it would work much easier.

No, it doesn't have the conformability of PPF. But for most applications it works well. And I know what you mean about the adhesive lacking bite. But once you steam it on & heat it afterward I've had no problems with it lifting or anything.

I did steam it for some chev headlights.. new body style.. super easy.

had nothing but issues trying to get it to stick.

the customer brought the film and lights in to do.

he had already tried himself and tired putting one of the lights film back on the liner. was contaminated big time.

I just wanted to try it and see what it was like. I wasnt having much luck getting it to stick.

I ended up lamin-x it and was super easy and fast.

thx for the info so far guys..

im sure someone will chime in on a material with half the mil they offer on the market that im aware of.

yeah I got the newer stuff I think.

I usually order some every 4 months or so.

its still not as thin as it should be.

why cant they make it like xpel ultimate? just smoked?

on some cars you can trim it at the edge because it doesnt roll in like some lights do.

getting the thicker stuff to stretch and roll in,stick and stay is impossible on some lights.

ive done tundras with the stuff, which have crazy curves in all directions. I can get it to lay down, but once the heat and sun hits it, it wants to lift and spring back because of the hard stretch to make it possible to wrap that light.

with clear bra I can wrap a light super easy.
