Applying vinyl over hand painted pinstripes?

Some 2000 grit paper should do it wet. Minimal buffing too.

C2C - 2000 grit sandpaper was actually the best thing. I wet sanded them all off in about an hour tonight. Now I just need to buff them out. Should have probably done that in the first place!

Hi Ridler,

 

Make sure you test as much as possible with spare vinyl and then look for rises from multiple angles under intense light.

 

We worked on a car where due to it being our own we thought we would bog areas/prime and wet sand ourselves. the sanding was done to the point where you could not feel where the original paint ended and the primed area began. Even tests where done with vinyl and was fine.

 

We then wrapped the car and once out in the sun and depending on the angle you could see faint lines or even worse slight rippling. Perfect example of how vinyl shows imperfections and also a perfect example of why we are a wrap shop not a body shop
