Question for EWF

Recommended Posts

Howard you guys do not have the ceramic 38 listed on the web site. Can you get this film? Will it pass inspection in NC on cars (32%).

Hi jh812,

Thanks for the inquiry.

The 3 newest VLTs in the range are 38%, 46% and 50%.  We do have all the VLTs in the warehouse at present, but they are in short supply so I have held back on adding them to the online catalog, where a single customer could wipe us out with the click of a mouse.  Our July containers will reach the port tomorrow and we will be very well stocked by next week.  I will have our IT team add it to the catalog within a 5-7 days.

As far as the legal question, let's do some math here:

The VLT range of auto glass (with no film) is 70%-84%.  Your state requires 32% (net)

So if the film is 38% and you put it on a car with 84% VLT glass, your result will be (approximately)   .84 X 38 =  31.92 and that should be a pass.

But...  If the car has 70% VLT glass, the math does not work out as well.  .70 X 38 =  26.6

To be on the safe side, the 42 should work.  You may need to stock both and then test a small piece of it on the vehicles.

****  These calculations are approximate.  There are variances within film, glass and limitations with these meters.

Thanks,

Howard
