Need advice of installation PPF

I try to install a piece of paint protection film on the hood and the adhesive lines/marks showed up when I try to move the film on the paint. Or this can be happened on the front bumper, where the film needs to be stretched. I am using 3-4 drops shampoo with water as slip. Any suggestions for preventing this happen in the future. Is that because the adhesive too tacky. Remember using Suntek couple month ago ( same slip ) and didn't had problem as this, only 2-3 adhesive lines on the whole job. However, this time the defects shows a lot of places.

Does suntek has a different adhesive than other brands ?

That is commonly referred to as "silvering" and is caused when the adhesive is allowed to tack before the film has been squeegeed.  Sometimes this is because the install solution dried out (or the film sank through it in the case of gel), but usually it is found where an installer's hand was on the film.

 

It is best to avoid by making sure that all film is floating before it is squeegeed, however you can minimize or eliminate the effect by picking up the film, respraying the bottom and rubbing the adhesive with your hand.

      South facing windows DR film

      Install went great. I went with NV-25, I am very happy. The room has been darkened significantly, from bright and hot to much more pleasant and enjoyable. Watching TV during the day is no longer blinding, when it is cloudy it is definitely a bit gloomy, I am glad I did not go with NV-15. I plan on getting more windows done in the future to help cut down on heat energy. Thanks for everyone's input!

      Stratos 70 on windshield, what is this?

      Captain Obvious has two cents err senses to share: 1) The film should be removed and replaced, because it appears to have adhesive blemishes that shouldn't be there, and 2) The film should be reviewed/inspected once taken from the roll to avoid losing time and resources due to manufacturing issues. Little pieces not so much, but back glass and windscreen pieces ... definitely.

      I switched so long ago... first to KDS but they went away. NT are great though. I use a piece of white strapping material as a cutting buffer between the blade and glass. Some use a button but I didn't like the feel..

      Stratos 70 on windshield, what is this?

      I can't win with getting tint decent on the windshield. I had 3M on my F150 done twice and still has major defects. Recently did Stratos twice on my F350 and I see this granular spotted, texture pattern on the tint. It's super obvious in the corner here but also right in my view when driving. It's honestly hard to point out and show someone but when your driving and stuff is moving behind the windshield, it becomes more obvious. The lighting also matters. The first time I did the windshield, I had a two foot line on the windshield. Thinking it was tint, they removed the tint and it was apparently a defect in the Ford windshield. An issue between the laminated glass layers caused this big defect. So they removed the tint, I had Ford replace the windshield on a 2024 F350 but when the tint shop removed the tint, they made a bunch of micro scratches in the front windshield, probably from scrapping the glue off. I told them but I didn't care since Ford was replacing the windshield anyways. So if basically I'm trying to figure out what this texture stuff is and if I should have them replace or remove it. Replacing it might just have different issues but also afraid they will scratch the windshield.
