I am very pleased see a Portuguese working in the industry in the US and here in the forum!

 

I work on my own and am trained in PPF Ventureshield UK since 2006 and also apply window film in Portugal. However this line of business here is not very easy ...

 

I am thinking to start with Clear Plex too. If you can give me some tips, it would be fantastic!

I've contacted Bray and never got a response. Never heard anything bad about clear plex

 

I tried it about 3 years ago... didn't last very long. Once the top coat starting getting nicks in it then it kept flaking off. Also one of my big concerns with film on a windshield is the liability. If you install film on a windshield... which is illegal... and someone gets in a wreck then they can come back and sue you if they say their vision was distorted. I am hoping that they have a good legal disclaimer that will hold up in court... but I never saw any print information from the manufacturer. So who knows. Great idea. I have installed Suntek PPF on my windshield and 8 months later it is doing ok. Has a couple of nicks in it due to large rocks hitting it but was worked well. I only use it on my personal vehicles though.

      South facing windows DR film

      Install went great. I went with NV-25, I am very happy. The room has been darkened significantly, from bright and hot to much more pleasant and enjoyable. Watching TV during the day is no longer blinding, when it is cloudy it is definitely a bit gloomy, I am glad I did not go with NV-15. I plan on getting more windows done in the future to help cut down on heat energy. Thanks for everyone's input!

      Stratos 70 on windshield, what is this?

      Captain Obvious has two cents err senses to share: 1) The film should be removed and replaced, because it appears to have adhesive blemishes that shouldn't be there, and 2) The film should be reviewed/inspected once taken from the roll to avoid losing time and resources due to manufacturing issues. Little pieces not so much, but back glass and windscreen pieces ... definitely.

      I switched so long ago... first to KDS but they went away. NT are great though. I use a piece of white strapping material as a cutting buffer between the blade and glass. Some use a button but I didn't like the feel..

      Headlight Taillight Vinyl question... (Looking for CHROME)

      Stratos 70 on windshield, what is this?

      I can't win with getting tint decent on the windshield. I had 3M on my F150 done twice and still has major defects. Recently did Stratos twice on my F350 and I see this granular spotted, texture pattern on the tint. It's super obvious in the corner here but also right in my view when driving. It's honestly hard to point out and show someone but when your driving and stuff is moving behind the windshield, it becomes more obvious. The lighting also matters. The first time I did the windshield, I had a two foot line on the windshield. Thinking it was tint, they removed the tint and it was apparently a defect in the Ford windshield. An issue between the laminated glass layers caused this big defect. So they removed the tint, I had Ford replace the windshield on a 2024 F350 but when the tint shop removed the tint, they made a bunch of micro scratches in the front windshield, probably from scrapping the glue off. I told them but I didn't care since Ford was replacing the windshield anyways. So if basically I'm trying to figure out what this texture stuff is and if I should have them replace or remove it. Replacing it might just have different issues but also afraid they will scratch the windshield.
