PPF on Ceramic Coated finish?

Recommended Posts

Too many variables to give an accurate answer. What coating, how well the car was prepped fist, where all the curing conditions for the coating met etc. In the long run though I will offer no warranty if covering a coating. And to be honest you would be wasting your coating to do so. A bit like painting the walls before plastering.

I've used 3m and premium shield on coated cars, both were coated over a year before film. Premium shield was applied over gtech and 3m over IGL. Both lifted within 6 weeks time. Prep was 3m wax and grease wipe and IPA wipe.

adhesive removers will not remove ceramic coatings, you have to compound them off but even if you do remove it the coating will likely still be in the edges and areas you may wrap and still make the film lift.

PPF is to protect against mild damage like rock chips. Ceramic coatings are more like a long lasting wax and can make the car glossier and easier to wash. It’s possible to put ceramic over PPF, but my detailer surprised me when he fix my car against this, it's really important to go to a reputable shop and let them handle this so you can achieve a good result. They are located in Brisbane and they can be reached on their website https://ceramicprotection.com.au/
