  1. Ugh, finishing up tomorrow 520sq ft fg and 333 mini pane job.  Going in, we didn't realize there was film already on the windows, which faded dang near clear.  Cant ask for more $ as it was our fault for not catching the film.  Luckily, no mini's had film on them, but most all the fg had it.  1 hour per 2 functionals to r/r.  Stuff was insane to remove...dry adhesive...

Good news is, we are booked out 2 weeks now.  WOOT!!

  2. Pretty easy just take your time. I got a few tip pull gasket, tape the sides

25 window is a little tricky make sure that you use olfa to clean the edges.

The best for last the curve back-glass. I use dry shrink . Run your line across the window. I the middle I use abbey powder. A pinch. Anchors on side then pull the tint and anchor the other side.. Pre shrink the top and bottom. Then shrink rest should be fine. Make sure that you cut the bottom right to the bot matrix. If you leave to long your in trouble .good luck. Just did one last sat.

Huh? I know there are a ton of dispensaries in CO. Lay off of it bro. Car is easy.

  3. Yeah, I know. I have been doing some repeat customers lately. We have slowed to such a crawl, I will tint anything at this point. Doing some custom stripes on a Camaro tomorrow. I am not using a pattern or anything. Got some vinyl and some knifeless tape. Going to be my first time to do this, this way. I'll post up!

  4. Blah blah, didnt read most of the responses.

I would look at what I was paying out in commission to this person for the year, and average for the year, then divide it by 12. This will give you an average of commission paid per month. If that number will afford you a shop, its a no brainer. If that number is close to affording a shop, do it. If its far below what a shop expense would cost, stay where you are and save some money.

You will need to factor in everything and anything you can think of when it comes to paying for a shop...then add 10%.

  5. Van Halen blows. All 80's rock music was from bands that tried to do what Zep, Floyd, Rush, etc did in the 70's, but never came close. Metallica had a good run at true rock music, but many songs were too punk rock.

Light up a bong and enjoy Dark Side of the Moon, or Physicall Grafitti...where you can feel the music.

And why the hell cant I embed!? Ive done it many times but since the forum change I cant.

  6. Years ago I worked for a company that used Suntek, They sold film to me knowing I worked for one of their dealers. I did a bunch of side work with the film. Today, I could go just about anywhere in Houston and fart, and the Suntelk dealers would smell it. They are everwhere, and this subject has been beat to death. Their flat glass film is great, and auto film is junk.

  7. A 2 door Maxima would look hot though. Somebody photoshop it please. :thumb

I knew what you meant. I was giving you a hard time. 2 dr Max would look killer.

    1. Most of the new Nissans door panels will do this. I have done it on the Altima and 370Z...ouch!!!! So it doesn't surprise me the Rogue is the same. I hardly ever heat on the inside but a touch usually doesn't hurt. Well these panels will not handle just a couple seconds of heat.

    2. I do probably 75 Rogues a month and do not shrink any window on them except the back. They are pretty flat. Very rarely do I have a finger pop up. I think though in the cold weather it is a good idea to take the extra time to shrink them. I love doing these, especially the all clear ones, such cake!

Off topic a little bit, we just got some new design Nissan Quests. I'll be tinting one today and reporting...

Maybe my heat gun just isnt as hot, but I have yet to burn a panel on a Nissan at the dealership, and I touch up on the inside. Sometimes, I use an Unger handle to lay over the panel where I am heating, or over the trim on the outside so I dont risk burning anything. I dont know if you can "picture" what I am talking about, but I put the front of the handle over the trim/panel so the heat hits the handle and not anything else. Tip of the week?

  8. I burnt a panel on the 2 door maxima when it first came out . Lesson learned . You are right, and its like it just disintegrates right before your eyes. That panel cost me 8 bills, cause it had only been out like 3 weeks. The car was so new , the customer had to wait like a month to get his panel. Now, if I ever have a prob, the panels coming off.

I wanna see one of those! I wonder why they would call it the 4DSC (4 door sports car) if it comes with 2 doors... :lol2

Never burned a panel on a Rogue, and Ive done a plethera of them. The only door I occasionally have a finger on is the back doors. I recommend not pulling them back, as you will almost certainly have to remove the panel to get it back on. There is a hook on the panel that will slide out when you pull it back, but wont go back in when you try to pop it back...so just take it off completely.

  9. In Texas, like TTC said, you cant get your annual vehicle inspection with illegal film applied.........on 1988-present vehicles. So if an 87 Mustang needed an inspection and had 5% on the car, they could get an inspection, but still be against the Texas state law. Inspection requirement/limit 20% on the two fronts, Texas State law 25%. :beer

Inspection requirement: no front license plate...PASS. Texas Law, no front license plate...TICKET! WTF?????

We are some silly Texans arent we? Yee-haw!!

  10. I typically tint 4 doors with 35 on the sides and 20 on the back glass. On my plotter, I can cut 15 or 16 (if I remember correctly) Altimas (doors) and about 18-25 bgs depending on the car. The plotter wastes less film than hand cutting, but Im not sure how many I could get out of it with cutting the back glass on the same roll. Id guess 10 full cars Altima size would be a safe bet...maybe 11, using a 36".
