What I meant was the 3M distributors were crying that they were losing a profit channel to DF.. not the dealers. Garden variety is Milano, segano, Oslo, S chute, cloud, etc, just to name a few. ..there are several more. The film you received in replacement for the film with drop out on it was printed vertically on 60” media due to continued manufacturing issues with 72”. I can’t imagine you had any issue with what was sent.

Not sure how 3M Distributors would be crying over that, seeing that the price from DF would be higher then from a 3M Distributor,. that is a mute point IMOP. The replacement film sent was fine other then the thin liner and that was not a big deal to me, The film was promised at a time discussed and did not arrive at said time, the job was then pushed off. That did not look good for us, surely you can understand  how that would look to the customer Tom. plus a few other issues that I will not post here, I am not trying to bash you or your partner, However if you push me I will push back.

We haven’t bought from DF in more than a year.
as far as “whose  Is better” . You have your own blind opinions, ..drowning in KoolAde. ..

we have use virtually every Fasara film in the portfolio, some are nice, others are garden variety garbage. ..

As far as 3M Dealers crying about them selling 3M Deco films and losing money. I think not, the price point was not comparable to what a 3M distributor price would be to a 3M authorized dealer . .Also what film would you consider garden variety garbage............?................. Also I do Not drink Kool-Aide.

..Well....3M played DF for a sucker. They had DF build the product line, market the crap out of it, create awareness and demand..Then all the 3M distributors cried about losing the largest profit margin items they have. Without question it was a giant blow to DF, ... Early on DF was eating 3Ms lunch ...so much so that they gave them the Fasara line to sell. IMO..it was a complete sleep bag thing that 3M did...but I wouldn't expect anything less from them.

Build the product line of 3M, they copied most of 3M Fasara films, they have that now. so you can buy as much as you want,  you can sell your customers an inferior product than 3M manufactures. I know you do not care right or wrong you will sell them what they ask for !

  4. The frames do not look to bad, I would clean the window as normal, flush the edge with my tank and and then squeegee the window from the edge and to the middle and down and dry the edge with a towel, Install the film and stay away from the edge as in do not let water get to the edge while doing so " up to where the film leaves the glass to the frames edge". trim the film from the bottom up and then use a push out card and then admittedly dry the edge with what ever you use to wick the water from the frame.

  5. Depending on the situation, I would just trim back a small amount to get a nice 90 degree edge and bump the edge strait on with a scraper to remove the fine residue left behind from the caulking to have a decent edge to trim the film against. Some times when trying to remove a small amount of caulking it will pull away from the frame, then you would either have to remove it all and redo the caulking again or make the customer aware of this before hand and let them decide if they would want to pay you to reinstall caulking or just leave it all removed. or just do it for free if you you want to do so. basically just give the customer a heads up on the situation.

I have a video of what we did over the weekend. Just can't post it. It was a bit over 3k sf of frost. Several hundred pieces in all. Got a call back today to go look at "a problem" with one of them ... one... got there and in the bottom left corner..the left side vertical cut is off about 1/32" at the bottom 1/2"..... I almost snapped...but instead I said fine..I'll replace it tomorrow.... I could literally squeeze a 1" tall 1/3" wide bead of black caulk and call it a day... friggin people...

I stopped by and checked the job out for them, was the piece of Blue 3M tape I put on the frame still there...............:lol

Once again, 3M fabricates their own way of measuring capabilities to skew results in favor of their branded product. ...3Ms moto..if you can't beat them...cheat.....similar to the democrats today.

:blink...............https://multimedia.3m.com/mws/media/625978O/3mtm-impact-protection-adhesive-safety-security-brochure.pdf ..................:yawn................:chin............ Even Pentagon Protection US uses 3M VHB on their Elite Anchoring Systems.

What you are looking for is Dow Corning 995. It sounds like you installed the film on  residential windows. If that's the case, it's unlikely you will get a large enough bead to be effective. The test standard is 1/2" on the frame, 1/2" on the film and 3/4" at a 45* non concave angle. ... But look on the bright side. Now ...should your glass break, it's going to just fall on the floor in 1 big piece .. Less clean up.

:whisper..........3M IPA has better performance specs than DOW 995.

This film will turn a 20-30 year skill installer into an amateur.....I seen a 65 year old man that been doing this for over 40 years shake scare when it didn't work out....

I have a few years under belt installing many types of film as well as a few that never made it to the market place. I think at this point I got this Casper install down, installed a small job last week with the back up pieces from the larger job.
