Sick WJ man! I have an XJ and a ZJ myself.
Looks like you're on a 3 link kit up front? This summer I'll be building bumpers for my ZJ and getting it ready for the trail. Always awesome to meet a fellow UT Jeeper!

Customer drove 30 miles to us to get the base package.
What is your base package film? Just curious. -

Sounds nice. My next house definitely has to have a fireplace.

I tint on the side and love it. The extra cash on the side is nice! All my biz is word of mouth and referrals. This time of year is slow, but when it's warmer I stay pretty busy on nights and weekends.
I worked in a shop for a very short time. I didn't like being rushed and dealing with egos. But if you have been in the aftermarket automotive industry for that many years these things are nothing new to you haha.

34 degrees for the high this weekend... Looks like I'm postponing some work.

Any tips on how to make sun strips a straight line? some customers dont want the curve of the glass
It’s not easy but you can use the upper molding or trim on the windshield to get a “straight” bottom edge. I found it comes out the cleanest when you do it in one cut. Almost impossible on big trucks. -
I like the new site theme. It's nice seeing initials instead of empty avatar profile pics.

Dang, already 61 pages deep! I need to get on TD more often. Count me in, and thanks for the opportunity!

I would tint 5 full cars for 150 a day...the shop would charge between 120-250 per car
Damn, $30 per car? No way I could do that.

On F250s I turn my 40" roll sideways and also shrink sideways towards the factory edges. I realize some people don't shrink these at all, but this is my method and I've never had a finger! Out of habit I shrink every door glass no matter what.

Envision has a good reputation. They’re in the SLC area.

Every once in a while I will get a pain in my wrist. I think it’s from the way I grip and use turbo squeegees.

Whatever you do stay away from theses “film opaquer” pens sold by tool suppliers. Looks absolutely terrible on glass. Might as well use a black sharpie.
I was using the fine point pen to cover a little sliver of light on an old jeep with thick rubber gaskets. While applying very little pressure, the tip broke off and ink/paint covered the interior of the jeep. Not a good day for me.

Give that Legacy film a year and it will have a terrible brown/orange color. That company recently rebranded from SolarTint Window Film.
Just take a second and write the roll number(s) on your warranty paperwork that you give to the customer. That way the roll number is always available in the event of a warranty issue.

I have the new Fusion yellow turbo on the way. Excited to try it out. I love the yellow turbo but it’s been tough to find consistency between suppliers. I prefer the really soft yellow turbo, but have received the harder formula multiple times.

Yeah I usually have my patterns pretty long on the sides. When I re do the fronts on this car I will cut them exact. I think that will help with fingers on the sides. And if there are any, they should be easier so lay down. Thanks everyone.

Just recently bought a pink crush to try out. I just recently switched to the clear crush for cleaning so I thought hey let's try the pink one. Gotta say I'm pretty disappointed in it. It's way to soft to push with and it gets hung up if you try to. It may be ok to just drag with for sides. All in all i will probably not use it.
Based on your recommendation in another thread I picked up the Clear Crush for cleaning and I love it! Thanks!
I was wondering about the Pink as well... this thread answered my questions.

I'm glad I'm not a sales rep in your territory.

Thanks for the input! Yeah I'm thinking pulling the seal might be the only option to get the big side of the window laid down nicely. I read that the front windows on these Volvos are laminated so I was cautious with the heat.
The thing is I can get the film into place just fine, but then it bunches up on me on the big side. Super annoying. Wish I would have grabbed a pic.

Hey guys, reaching out for some help on the Volvo S40. I've been tinting seriously for the last couple years and this car is probably the hardest one I've encountered.
Back glass was a breeze. I'm having trouble with the roll ups. I did lots of research prior to taking in this car, so I was prepared for the tight felt seals. But dang, they were so much worse than I expected!
Luckily on these cars the top of the panel has four clips you have to release then the bottom seal some out easily. So after bottom loading my pattern everything laid down nice except I got a bunch of horizontal fingers on the big side of the window. Usually I'm able to knock these down with a little heat, but no such luck on this Volvo.
The side seals are pinching the film so tight that it's creating horizontal side fingers that are damn near impossible to lay down. How do you guys handle these Volvos? I'd really like to avoid pulling the entire seal out. I'm going to have to re do both fronts in this S40 and I want to be ready this time. Any input is appreciated! Thanks!
Does anybody double cut and double shrink?

Yup - more often than not when I try double cutting roll ups, I end up costing myself more time/material. However I do double cut quarter windows all the time with out issues.
