Just did a 2016. Easy car for sure. I found it well worth the time to remove the spoiler.
Remove the center plastic trim piece on the rear hatch, this will expose (7) 10mm nuts. Remove the nuts then then spoiler will be held on by two clips - one on each side. Hit those with a plastic pry tool (they’re tight!) then the speakers spoiler is out of your way for a quick and easy shrink. I just left the electrical and washer fluid line and attached. -
Well if you haven’t realized by now, this forum is not geared toward the DIY, but more for industry professionals.

Yeah the black rubber on these works pretty good for both prep and install. If you have extra cut one into a triangle shape. I’m loving mine for roll up windows. It works way better than the Tri Edge plus, and is more low profile than the conquerer.

Unfortunately those little white specs are dirt trapped between the glass and film. When you first install the film all of the moisture helps hides these imperfections. Once the film has time to cure, debris under the film becomes much more noticeable; more so with darker films.
There so many variables here. Any tinter will tell you "there's no such thing as a perfect tint job". Keep in mind you're working with a 10 year old car. The older the car, the more dirt. Cleaning/good prep methods are crucial on vehicles of this age. It's import to wipe off all panels around the back glass in addition to cleaning the glass itself. And don't forget the number 1 rule of tint... never touch the sticky side!
What is your prep method? Step by step? And how/where are you peeling your release liner? You could be introducing debris to the film right from the get go if you're peeling from a dirty car.

Man it's nice I did have a guy come back in today was a little annoyed at that. However him and his son didn't say anything just peeked in and went back. I got so use to it after three years I know how to handle most situations.
You ever have a customer ask to use your bathroom when you were working from home? That’s always awkward haha... it’s like “yeah I guess...” I’m not going to say no... but I don’t like randoms using my bathroom! One of the worst situations when working from home for sure! -
Ahhh been there before. Lesson learned!

Did one today. One of the easiest cars to pull seals on. Screws behind the release lever and pull/handle. Also need to remove the little plastic triangle piece in the corners - couple of clips there.
Then lift up and pull on the panel and the seal comes right out. And unlike Toyotas, it’s super easy to lift the door panel back onto the seal when you’re done. -

DO NOT open a shop until you can hand cut comfortably, then get a plotter to make it easier
Completely agree!

2018 Hyundai Elantra GT. Right off the showroom floor! I very rarely get to tint new vehicles so this was nice for a change. Really fun car to tint. Pretty easy tuck, although I would have hit the panels if the owner wasn’t waiting (and watching 🤨). Express Classic Black 5/20.
Funny thing is this Elantra was for a dealership employee, and I beat their "employee pricing" on tint by almost $100. Thinking it's time to raise prices...

What's the tool called in the middle? Not sure I've ever seen that one before. I'm always looking to try new tools!

Did an R&R on a new Sierra this morning not sure how this one made it out of the original shop, according to the customer it was done somewhere down south when the truck was built.... Nice edge man! Is that shaved? -
I agreed to double layer because the customer didn’t want to pay for removal on the back glass. Lasted about two years before it started peeling up. Probably won’t ever do that again.

Utah Highway Patrol is brutal when it comes to enforcing tint laws! They literally get off on writing tint tickets. We just did away with annual safety inspections so now troopers are even more strict. Bringing lots of biz my way however.
My dad always told me “Never break more than one law at once.” Usually this will keep you out of trouble.
If you’re gonna traffic meth, don’t break tint laws. If you’re gonna break tint laws, don’t traffic meth. Simple as that! Haha- Roach, pbalentine and DynamicATL

Yep same thing happened to me. Told Solar FX I was currently using Express and they basically said “You’re in good hands with Express. Have a good day.”

Yes exactly, I was wondering if the blade was on the seal side or glass side. Makes sense that’s it’s on the glass side to protect the seal. Thanks guys. Looking at purchasing some residential film from Express to get me started.

It's pretty straight forward really. You'll be best to reverse roll or drop it. I'm sure you can dig around here to find out how to do that. I personally use a five way tool to do the trimming. You'll likely need a Phillips head or Allen head to remove the door handle. DO NOT remove the seals on that as they are a pain to get back on.
So when you’re using the five way tool to trim, does the blade go above or below the five way? Probably a stupid question lol. I’m trying to learn flat glass as well. Way too many people having been asking about it for me to ignore it much longer. -
Yep I agree I’ve installed Classic Black on a few shields with no issues. Also I do believe it’s color stable.

Never tried it on a windshield but I shrink sides all the time on big trucks. F250/350 for example I use a 40” roll sideways and it’s perfect. But then shrinking sideways is weird to me so I still turn my pattern 90 degrees so I can shrink the sides vertically. If that makes sense.

Small Miscut, Should I Ask for Fix?

Damn. Those tight corners on frameless windows are annoying. Been there before. But I would never let it leave like that.
