Bagging in the sun is still the best way. I have never liked a steamer for removal. In the winter no sun for us. I got a few IR curing heat lamps and used those with the bagging method. Works like a charm.
What chemical do you usually apply with the bagging method? I've never really got it to work. Seeing as we have the same climate I though I would ask.

The smart cards are okay for shrinking, never thought about them for prep. Gator blades are awesome for prep. Just like a plastic razor blade but twice as wide and much more comfortable to use.

I found this entertaining! Pretty impressive IMO.

It definitely takes a little bit of work but they aren't bad. At the price I was at I was happy to do it for that. Of course I got YouTube certified before doing so
I'm surprised the customer approved the "glass removal" price - us jeep guys are cheap! Lol

How big of a pain is it to remove the rear quarter glass on the Cherokee? Are the seals reusable? I’ve always had decent luck just tinting in the Jeep.
Looks like you got some awesome results on that one! -
I think I saw the video where you showed your method a while back. Anybody have a link for it?

Oh yeah - rookie move on my part. If you want to remove the rear headrests there’s a pin hole opposite of the adjustment button. Insert a pick tool and the headrest comes right out. Makes life easier.

I totally agree. I hate cutting out brake lights, looks much cleaner without for sure. However I always cut them out, unless someone specifically asks me not too. Just trying to cover my ass haha!
Utah law says there can’t be any film between the brake light and glass, highway patrol is known to write “fix it” tickets for it. Even though they did away with annual safety inspections, this is something they still enforce on the road. - Lame!
I just don’t want someone coming back to me asking me to redo their rear window because they got written up for it.
-
Not a bad Idea! Didn't think of that. Those are black & white squeegees are about as thin as it gets. I've been doing lots of work for the local Hyundai dealer and the Sonata rear decks are tight! Thanks @Bham

Hey guys! Does anyone have any tricks on cleaning streaks of dried up slip solution from behind third brake lights? Specifically on tight rear decks?
I hate to send cars out the door with streaks, but last time I tried to clean them off with a squeegee I pulled up the film and almost had to redo the rear window!

It's just the type of adhesive and that's what you want from them. Install will be normal. Maybe smartie2shoes could give us the technical side of it.
Oh okay cool. Thanks for your input. Just wanted to make sure I wasn’t buying a weird film that would require some sort of fancy install or something.
If I only choose two shades to start what would you recommend? Any input on roll sizes? -
Hey guys, I’m ordering my first order of flat glass film and I’m looking at the Express Delta Dual Reflective. At the end of the description it says DRY. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen this across other suppliers as well.
What does this mean exactly? -
I bought one thinking I’d use it here and there. Haven’t used it once. There’s really no substitute for a bulldozer IMO.
-
Ehh. I did my full shield in 70% ceramic over my 5% visor and the line isn't enough to bother me. Maybe I'm just used to it?
However I will always recommend a removal and reinstall when doing a full windshield after the fact.

2003 Civic Coupe that kicked my ass. Well, the back glass did. Doors and quarters went smooth. Just one of those days I suppose.
Those aren't very fun. Those doors are loooong!

Hey @TQtinting turn on your private messages! I have question for ya.

Anybody know how to remove the headrests on these damn things? I know the center headrest is fixed, but it would be nice to remove the sides.
Tried everything and didn’t want to break headrest on a car with 50 miles on it. -
Hmmm if you look really close there are some inconsistencies on the edge that aren’t typical with a plotter. I’m guessing just a bad hand cut. But who knows. Anyways that’s besides the point. Just play it cool and ask the shop if they wouldn’t mind redoing the window. Sometimes tinters like to see what they can get away with.

I personally remove all stickers unless they’re really small. Snagged one the wrong way once, creased the film and had to redo the whole window. Won’t happen to me again.

Honestly haven’t tucked a gasket since the early 00’s, when a lot of them stopped popping back up on their own. Also the second layer would get stuck down and scratch the tint later. Do you untuck everything when your finished? If so, how are you getting the bottom seal back up on back doors that don’t roll down all the way?
I believe he’s talking about tucking the film itself behind the seal in typical top load fashion. Not actually tucking the seal down.
What did you tint today?
