down here where it gets hot, dish detergent will make the film turn purple in about 6 months, fail in a couple years, ...... ya know, yu run out of baby shampoo, got some dertergent, or car wash, handy you don't want waste time running to the store, so you let one go with some detergent in it , it's just one car right? well about a year later this car comes back bright ass purple!! I'm like " this car did'nt come from here, there's no way.......... wait a minute.... oh yeeeah"

We actually did 2 cars for the guy on the same day, no kidding, one was purple, one was not. Both cars stay in the sun all day. Dude couldn't understand why one was purple and the other wasn't, I can't tell for sure but that's the only car I've had come back mega-weirdass purple like that, soo the moral of the story kids is use baby shampoo I've never had any with it, as far as that "specially approved window film application solution" from whoever, I've used it and don't see nothing special about it

no...it's the film being used, not the detergent. install quantum with that detergent that turns film purple and see what happens.

I tend to agree with Blade

although I have gone back to baby instead of joy,

I have noticed a little color change on 3-4 yr old installs :please

only with a certian film co.s sputtered "plus" line

that I don't see out of their aluminium line

same poly, SR, dye process, UV absorbers, adhesive, the only difference

is the metal component, and how it is applied to the film

incidentally, the film co. is phasing out the sputtered "plus" line

so....I have dropped that line completely

I will continue to offer their aluminium line

as it holds up very well, for many years

I do believe the UV absorbing component, and adhesives

have a major part in how it would react to dish soap

as much as climate

I dont play with purple

:thumb just my $.02

Ah ha... we have another who gets it! :thumb

To add to Z's... sputtered films generally have lower water vapor transmission rates (WVTR)... the slower the dry time, the more likely lingering soups and poo's have time to impact the chemistry of the mounting adhesive in a negative manner. And as the stew brews into who knows what, it can have an impact on other components as the (chemically charged) water transfers through the film layers. :please

It's one of the chief causes of sputterd PS adhesive going hazy in short periods of time. Centaur was notoious for adhesive hazing in Florida years ago until the fix was found... especially from those who left too much water behind.

Metint,

I value your technical input greatly!!

Your opinions have encouraged me to re-consider the chemicals

that I use for my installs, and the proof will be in the pudding

many years from now.

I only wish I could find a gel glue without ammonides

I cant let go of that aspect of my art & trade

despite the negative effect, it definately causes.

I hope you continue the technical input

and endure the flaming here

you have raised my tint I.Q. more than a few points
