Too easy to pull anything off ...I'd tint them get the $$$ and be putting a down payment on one by the time y'all do all that !

 

Takes 30 seconds at most to pull panel back and remove sweep then drop the whole piece on there. 

Leave it to GM though new Tahoe and suburban glasses are not same size and have a 2 piece top panel to pull back. Pull panels back from corners it easier on those.

Just my :twocents ...

The last couple I had were really a tug to try to just pull back on the top of the panel. Try rolling the window down and locating the clips from the ouside, then stick a small right angle pick in there to release the clips from the panel. Its no struggle at all and less likely that something might break. And if the customer is watching, (which I HATE)  it will look more methodical instead of looking like youre ready to rip and tear! :broken

I have never pull a panel on Chevy Tahoe or these new Silverado's....   how is that easy?  I only pull panels when I MUST do so.

 

I don't pull panel. I roll window down, take out one bolt behind door panel, pull top of panel back  remove sweep and tint. 2015 top clips are different that 2014. Some are a little tighter than others but all the top of the panels will pull back. New Ttahoe and suburbans have 2 piece top but still pull back also. Takes me about 30 seconds to take out sweep and to me it just makes it easier to tint by going in with liner completely off..

I had a '15 2500HD today, couldn't get the tops to pop loose like the four or five '14s I've done. :?

Did it with the sweeps in but of course there was a cluster of felt got sucked up where a small dart popped up at the front corner. I swear if I don't get the bottom nailed down on the first pass, that gets me every time if the sweep is in.

If anyone can pinpoint what's different about the clips on the 15, I'd appreciate it. I've got last year's down to a science and this one baffled me. I usual pop them loose with a pic or Popsicle with the window down.

The one I did gave me no beef... but then I never pull anything, just make sure you double shrink and re check it and shrink the bottom tight.   Is the only way I was able to do that one I did a month or so ago.

      Automotive Tint Comparison

      LLumar, 3M and Solargard have in the industry as far back as the genesis of window film mid-1960's). Solargard is the younger of the three and all others came to play in the last 20 or so years. I've had all three on my vehicles over the years and my current is 3M Crystalline on my Jeep since 2015. It still has stable color, scratch coat is holding strong and impeccable adhesive clarity. Never been garaged. My choice toady would be 3M or LLumar.

      Hook up with Glassy Business and get all the ins and outs of pro vs DIY with window film. That company goes back way before my retirement in 2015. I want to believe they are/were a Vista Film dealer and I cannot remember the owner's name. Peace out.

      Once more thank you, you are the best I been looking at the specs for the products you mention and info into tinting a window. I recently did wrap my wife's car and it turn out really nice, for what I have been seeing tinting a window is similar and I am tempted to do it myself. With that said I can't find any place to buy the products you mention, I found quite a few films in Amazon but they seem sketchy. There is other web sites selling films but the ones you mention I can’t locate, anyhow is there any place where I can buy this products?

      Forgot to mention; if your house is under HOA, you may have to check in with them. Some, eh hem, many seemingly shy away from having a reflective look to the glass. A dual reflective with a visible light transmission of 35% (ex: NV35) would likely be more palatable to HOA, but not so happy for the owner. Your position to take with them is: The higher the reflectivity of a film product, the better when dealing with desert heat. There exists a necessary (physics) compromise in every window film transaction. Can't please all parties. Glad I could help educate.

      Thank you very much Tinguy1980, I was just about to mess it up. I appreciate your insight! I would have never guessed that the products I was thinking about "run counterintuitive to the use of the product" for the excessive heat. Frankly it does get so hot in that room that at this point I am less about how it looks and more about performance, during summer the AC never stops running in that room, electricity prices here in Las Vegas is up there hence I am trying to invest in ways to cool that room down.       South facing window tint

      Personally knowing what it's like in Vegas when it's hot, I would stir clear of any film TSER performance value less than 60% or a solar heat gain value greater than 40%. Prestige does not fit this and would be a big waste of good money. Huper Optiks' ceramic products have high solar energy absorption rates, so in hot environments these kind high absorptive films run counterintuitive to the use of the product while using air conditioning to cooling the interior. High absorption on the inside pane, where most films are applied will radiate that absorbed heat toward the room. Outside breezes across the exterior surface of the window will not be as effective in cooling down the interior than say a low absorptive film, high solar reflection film product. In this case, low absorptive/high solar reflection products should be a go-to such as: 3M's Night Vision15 or NV25, Vista Film's Dual Reflective18 or DR 28, LLumar's DR15 or DR25 (which closely matches 3M NV), or Madico's Optivision in and around the same number assignment. The numbers assigned to films represent the visible light transmission of the product. When a dealer comes out to assess and likely have and leave samples, use the samples as sunglasses by wrapping over your eyes a viewing out and in the room. This gives you a more precise idea of what the film will look like once applied. A small sample placed on the glass will always appear darker than having the entire panel tinted. Good luck.
