Just throwing it out there . Been tinting almost 30 yrs now and have built a great name for myself . Problem is its a catch 22. I'm so heavily booked because of the way I've promoted myself . I do the selling, installation, I'm shop boy, marketer, driver, I promote myself as the only person that will ever touch your car. Customers eat it up. I'm always booked. Problem? I'm getting tired :lol

How do you expand when the very thing that floats my business is the stated above? Do I try hiring an experienced tinter? Start from scratch?

My end game was to hire 1 of my 2 boys but both have NO interest.

Thoughts ?

Only do the sales and the management part of things. Tell people how you have the best installers to reassure they are going to a quality job and if they are not the best installers, teach them into being really good ones. Then so you don't have to keep hiring new guys again and again pay them as good installers.

I have done both. I trained both of my sons and many other people. I have hired people with little experience, and with tons of experience.

Having an employee is like having additional children. Times will be good, then drama, then good, drama, then good....

One thing I do when they are hired, they know what is expected of them. I expect them ready for work on time, not just showing up on time. I expect them devote their energy during business hours on business, not others things in life.I expect an honest day's work and I pay them an honest day's pay.

In return I will do my best to keep them making money.

My Achilles Heel is I've worked so long alone I'm just so used to it. I seriously don't know if I can deal with employee "drama" :lol (heard too many horror stories)

I've turned down so much $$$ this year because I can't keep up the solo act since I decided to not work more than 40hrs.

Not the solution. it's more of a me getting out of the back window tinting sort of thing. I charge plenty :DD

The thought had crossed my mind. Only thing is I would want to still tint in my town here and there. I don't think that would go down ethically too well with whoever bought the business lol

      EXPERIENCED TINT & PPF INSTALLER NEEDED IN NORTH DALLAS

      I am looking for an experienced Window Tint and/or PPF installer for a new shop opening in North Dallas (Frisco, Prosper, McKinney area). Must be damn good with a strong work ethic and put out quality work. You’ll have plenty of freedom but work is expected to get done as customers come first.       TintX Puremax and Koolmax

      All Right cool. I've been practicing with an inexpensive tint I found on amazon. Its called Rockrose. I'm just about ready to make some cards to pass around to get clientele. I've been debating if I should start with Puremax cuz its a lot cheaper or Geoshield cuz of the great quality I've heard of. I'll probably go with Geoshield so I can make it easy on myself and make sure I do great quality work for my customers. Are you already doing doing jobs for customers? If so, did you stop using the Puremax and now only use Geoshield?

      Ghosting week require a smoother, more even and spread out shrink. Look at my old "ryk shrink" using 2 heart guns with an over/under setup. That would be my suggestion.

      Heavy Ghosting - Geoshield "Geo" Line

      Hey all, I am not a pro tinter but more or less just someone who likes to experiment / DIY. Wanted to ask if there was anyone here who has used the Geoshield "Geo" line for automotive purposes? I really like the color, but I get really bad ghosting for anything that requires decent shrinking. The film is specced as architectural, but has a PS adhesive so some use it in auto applications. I sent an email to see if that is the reason why it's for flat glass .. lol This is a sputtered TiN film and has a beautiful color imho. This reminds me of Huper Optik, and not quite sure but I think Johnson had a line called "InsulatIR" that I could never get my hands on to try. The film has a slightly purplish reflection (TiN I guess), when put on green auto glass, filters out and looks super neutral. ❤️ I've had it on my auto for a while but my rear window is a mess when the sun hits it (ghosting) and was curious if this is just not suitable for auto Any info would be appreciated. Skill issue, ie: shrink with lower heat? lol Thanks.

      chameleon window tint good quality

      If you don't mind trying to source some, there is a large Japanese manufacturer that makes a bunch of dichroic - looking films. It might be your style, but it would be hard to get your hands on some. https://www.braintec.co.jp/filmlab/ I believe some of the films do have decent heat-rejection, but because of the nature of the films, looking through them can be really funky. They are well-known in Japan and would likely be of decent quality. Also, very expensive. Depending on where you are, shipping would also be $$$.

      TintX Puremax and Koolmax

      I feel the difference in quality with geoshield. Not only is it easier to peel the liner off but shrinking feels better and I think the material feels slightly thicker(helps with not creasing) Only downside that the price noticeably different. For mainly everything Its atleast another 100 on top of for example stuff from tints Lexen. I haven’t tried solarfree either.

      At least twice, yes. Although since we don't know what vehicle it is you're planning to tint, that was a bit presumptuous of me.
