Auto tinting vs flat glass

I've tinted 10s of thousands of cars and I absolutely love it , I've also tinted several buildings and houses BUT it just bores me to death , the money is great but I just don't feel like its much of a challenge anyone feel the same ?

Absolutely not. If you feel there is not much more in flat glass to know to do you are in the best position to have your mind opened to the potentials of window film. Lean more about it before you make that judgement.

Btw I am an "auto tinter" getting into flat glass

I feel completely the opposite. I never was one to stay in a shop all day. Flat glass is always different. I tried doing cars years ago, but was so bored, and hated getting into the back of tiny cars. I couldn't wait to get out there with the flat glass guys. Just because you are good at cars, does not mean you would be any good at flat glass. It would be like me attempting a car after all these years.

Ya , that's what I'm saying , I just finished 500 square foot of flat glass last night and it was so repetitive it didn't Challenge me like auto does , no offense to you flat glass guys, I wish I got payed like you lol. Flat pays way more , 2k profit in 10 hours yay boy .

dude did you ever read my post I just said it's boring and that I've tinted A LOT of flat just prefer the challange of auto !!

Both are great, I started at flat glass and recently opened auto. 

 

Flat glass can get you some clients for auto and not that common the other way around.

Flat glass usually is more sf, and more $$.

In both you can provide exceptional service which can give you a competitive edge.

Yeah man, but you haven't read mine. Seriously, if you think Fg is boring you haven't done it all. I can compare doing the same type if flat glass, where you do the same windows over and over, to working at the same dealership doing the same cars over and over. There's so much more to flat glass and I don't just mean the usual "there's more knowledge" a couple days ago I was lucky enough to visit my supplier and check out his UV printer. The possibilities are endless.

      Stratos 70 on windshield, what is this?

      Captain Obvious has two cents err senses to share: 1) The film should be removed and replaced, because it appears to have adhesive blemishes that shouldn't be there, and 2) The film should be reviewed/inspected once taken from the roll to avoid losing time and resources due to manufacturing issues. Little pieces not so much, but back glass and windscreen pieces ... definitely.

      I switched so long ago... first to KDS but they went away. NT are great though. I use a piece of white strapping material as a cutting buffer between the blade and glass. Some use a button but I didn't like the feel..

      Stratos 70 on windshield, what is this?

      I can't win with getting tint decent on the windshield. I had 3M on my F150 done twice and still has major defects. Recently did Stratos twice on my F350 and I see this granular spotted, texture pattern on the tint. It's super obvious in the corner here but also right in my view when driving. It's honestly hard to point out and show someone but when your driving and stuff is moving behind the windshield, it becomes more obvious. The lighting also matters. The first time I did the windshield, I had a two foot line on the windshield. Thinking it was tint, they removed the tint and it was apparently a defect in the Ford windshield. An issue between the laminated glass layers caused this big defect. So they removed the tint, I had Ford replace the windshield on a 2024 F350 but when the tint shop removed the tint, they made a bunch of micro scratches in the front windshield, probably from scrapping the glue off. I told them but I didn't care since Ford was replacing the windshield anyways. So if basically I'm trying to figure out what this texture stuff is and if I should have them replace or remove it. Replacing it might just have different issues but also afraid they will scratch the windshield.

      Need some help

      Never overlook the condition of the floor. Back when I did install, I used to mist the floor between the vehicle and the peel board. This is done between misting the window and walking toward the peel board to mist the pattern liner, peel liner and spray adhesive for install. Tacks any dust for the duration of each pattern install, so repeat each time a pattern is going to be installed.
