plotter?

For thise of you who use a plotter.

When doing a backglass do you completely weed out the backglass pattern or just rough cut it before shrinking?

Rough cut it to avoid burning the edges when shrinking

So do the final weed out after shrinking?

That was what I had in mind. It's been 10 year or more since I used plotter cut film. And burning the edges while shrinking was one issue I always had with it.

Going to be taking on some dealership work that provides the plotter and film. I told them I would give it a trial run on Saturday. Just have to see how it goes.

Rough cut then shrink then weed.

Precut film.  Usually rough cut it, but on the Altima coupe I don't.

 

Same car, rough cut after shrink to make the liner easier to remove.  Skip to 1.15 to see removal.

I don't even weed it out.

just cut the liner and tint off at the line.

from the plotter works best .top and bottom

then do sides at board.just pull linerthen

the sides come wright off.

Rough cut as the liner moves way differently under heat, leading to singed edges.

Seems to be unanimous. I got a few altima's to do tomorrow for a dealer using first cut. I will see how it goes.

When I used the plotter, I would weed the the sides, and rough cut the rear leaving a little more than a 1/4 inch on it to keep from burning the edges, then weed the rest after it's shrunk.
