So my distributor just handed a book and data cards of this auto film. Now my distrib. is VERY pro 3M and it IS his job to sell it to me.

I know it's illegal for a reflective film down her but gotta admit, I think some grades look pretty cool.

Didn't have much time to stop and look at specs and besides I value someone else's opinion whos used it more.

Can anyone tell me what's in te film? My distrib. said it was a DR film? For auto? Also said he'd give a warranty for use on FG..... Is he lieing?

What's in it? Is it just a carbon film with aluminium in it?

What's it like to install and if u could pm me where it sits on your price scale too would be great!

Oh I am so tempted to make a smart ass post as well  :evilgrin

 

BC comes in a 10, 20, 35 & 40. With only the 40 being legal to install on auto in Aus.

All of 3M's auto range may be installed on FG and will come with a FG warranty. BC has a 12 year Comm warranty; Lifetime Res warranty.

CS & FX , two of 3M's other auto films come with an 8 year Comm or Res warranty

I really like the BC10 in particular, but with an internal reflectance of 18%, I will be careful where I use it, the BC 35 is another nice film in the range with a tser of 57%.

 

I could keep going on but I would have to be paid a commission by 3M :smoker

You can only haze the randoms so much before getting a little yourself. :D

That was a killer reply. Give kc the credit he deserves! Haha. Might have to start calling him 36 cause I think he might have one-up'd you there..

Anyway, BC film: too shiny. Not many people will like it. I've had a roll of BC35 sitting on the shelf here for years. Might do 2-3 cars a year in it. .

      Stratos 70 on windshield, what is this?

      Captain Obvious has two cents err senses to share: 1) The film should be removed and replaced, because it appears to have adhesive blemishes that shouldn't be there, and 2) The film should be reviewed/inspected once taken from the roll to avoid losing time and resources due to manufacturing issues. Little pieces not so much, but back glass and windscreen pieces ... definitely.

      I switched so long ago... first to KDS but they went away. NT are great though. I use a piece of white strapping material as a cutting buffer between the blade and glass. Some use a button but I didn't like the feel..

      Headlight Taillight Vinyl question... (Looking for CHROME)

      Stratos 70 on windshield, what is this?

      I can't win with getting tint decent on the windshield. I had 3M on my F150 done twice and still has major defects. Recently did Stratos twice on my F350 and I see this granular spotted, texture pattern on the tint. It's super obvious in the corner here but also right in my view when driving. It's honestly hard to point out and show someone but when your driving and stuff is moving behind the windshield, it becomes more obvious. The lighting also matters. The first time I did the windshield, I had a two foot line on the windshield. Thinking it was tint, they removed the tint and it was apparently a defect in the Ford windshield. An issue between the laminated glass layers caused this big defect. So they removed the tint, I had Ford replace the windshield on a 2024 F350 but when the tint shop removed the tint, they made a bunch of micro scratches in the front windshield, probably from scrapping the glue off. I told them but I didn't care since Ford was replacing the windshield anyways. So if basically I'm trying to figure out what this texture stuff is and if I should have them replace or remove it. Replacing it might just have different issues but also afraid they will scratch the windshield.

      Need some help

      Never overlook the condition of the floor. Back when I did install, I used to mist the floor between the vehicle and the peel board. This is done between misting the window and walking toward the peel board to mist the pattern liner, peel liner and spray adhesive for install. Tacks any dust for the duration of each pattern install, so repeat each time a pattern is going to be installed.
